First - I agree with those who said find another doctor. One cause is hormonal. There is a hormone we produce that causes us to produce less pee overnight. Some of us just haven't started to produce this hormone yet, and there are treatments for it. One is a nasal spray.

Second - it could be hereditary and often is. I was a bedwetter and so was my son.

I trained myself (so I was a pretty big kid at that stage!), by getting up to pee 5 times a night whether I needed to or not, and gradually reducing the number of times I got up.

I just recently trained my son to be dry overnight. He used Pull Ups and I'd disagree with the person who told you to use protection, as I found it made my son lazy. He didn't make any effort to be dry because the Pull Ups kept him dry.

I put him on an air mattress every night for a while with just one sheet (less washing, and in hot weather), and real underwear, not Pull Ups!. The plastic air mattress is easy to wipe clean. You might also try a plastic mattress protector. He was not allowed to drink after dinner, went to the toilet at bedtime, and I took him again when I went to bed at about 11pm; and these 3 things we still do even though he's pretty much 100% dry.

He was rewarded with $2 for every dry morning and after a few weeks had saved up lots of money for a new toy! You might have to find a way to reward yourself, like a chocolate on your dry days, a movie after a number of dry days, or saving up in a similar way my son did.

I also attended a seminar which suggested drinking more during the day. It stretches and strengthens your bladder so it can wait longer overnight. At your age you might also like to try pelvic floor exercises. It means pulling your private muscles up tight like you are trying to stop a pee. You can even try it while you are actually going to the toilet.

These are a few ideas just from my experience - hope they help! You'd be surprised how common your problem is.

I'm thinking you might want to see a different doctor. There are lots of things that could possibly help, but it depends on why you wet the bed. Getting a second opinion is never a bad idea.

First of all do not blame yourself for this problem. It could be your kidneys haven't grown along with your body or a genetic thing. Ask to speak with your doctor yourself and tell him besides wearing protection what can i do is there a vitamin supplement or exercise that i can do.

my roommate in college wet her bed until she was 15 turned out she has 3 kidneys and everything processes really fast. find a different dr!! just because one doesn't know what he/she is talking about does not mean that their answer is the final answer.
