heh, I can believe there is a force (which we colloquially call the strong force) at work in the nucleus of the atom because when protons are fired through a thin gold sheet with a photographic plate behind it they are only occasionally deflected, whilst an electron fired in the same experiment deflects everytime, thus exposing the generalized makeup of an atom.

I can believe in this strong force because otherwise all those positive protons in a nucleus should fly away from each other like many positive charged magnets. But they don't.

If you want to believe that it is 10,000 angels on the head of a pin holding those protons togethor, be my guest. Doesn't change how it works. A rose by any other name will smell as sweet.
