I think religion has done just a little bit of good here and there.

By and large, however, I think the burden of proof will always be on those who justify religion, and believe that it has done more good than harm to our world.

This is like saying the gun committed murder and not the person using it. Its not religion, but how humans choose to interpret God's laws.

Well, to the thousands of children that were cared for by Mother Theresa and her nuns, I would say yes. To those who find food and shelter each day inside the doors of the Salvation Army, I would say yes. To those who have found a future and a hope where there was no future or hope, yes. Religion has done much good in the world but just like everything else the world only wants to acknowledge the bad more than the good.

There is no consensus among researchers as to the best methodology for determining the religiosity profile of the world's population. A number of fundamental aspects are unresolved:

Whether to count "historically predominant religious culture[s]"[7]
Whether to count only those who actively "practice" a particular religion[8]
Whether to count based on a concept of "adherence"[9]
Whether to count only those who expressly self-identify with a particular denomination[10]
Whether to count only adults, or to include children as well (see God Delusion#Childhood.2C abuse and the escape from religion)
Whether to rely only on official government-provided statistics [11]
Whether to use multiple sources and ranges or single "best source(s)"

The correct interpretations of religion have brought good to our world. Those who interpret religion the wrong way, or take it to extremes have brought harm to out world, the religions themselves have not.

The people helped by Christian charities after disasters like hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami in Asia didn't ask the Christian who helped them to prove they were doing good. They thanked those Christians for the food and clothes, and the help in repairing their lives.
I don't remember hearing about atheist charities helping feed anyone, do you ?
I figure religion does a lot of good.

I disagree. While those who know and love God abide here on earth in peace and assurance of salvation and eternal life in the presence of God, those who deny God debate his existence, and until they shoulder their own responsibility toward God, the proof they seek will never be forthcoming.

u think if there was no such thing as religion, people wouldn't be evil or fight anymore?
people will always find something to fight about: oil, money, toilet paper whatever.
dont blame religion, blame the people.
