Do they also want the story of the Stork bringing babies in a sling taught instead of sex education?

the great one : The big bang theory has nothing to do with evolution. Two different theories. Why not just argue about electricity. It's equally as irrelevant. Evolution doesn't explain the beginning of life, just the adaptation of it.

I'm sure that would complete their whole myth story.

Most Christians do NOT want "creationism" taught instead of evolution. The reason that a SMALL portion of christians want to teach Intelligent Design (aka "creationism") is because they believe in a very strict and literal interpretation of the bible. You can still be a Christian and believe the evolution theory. I agree with you that "creationism" should not be taught in schools, though, especially since there is no evidence to back the "theory" up. As far as the sex education topic goes, Christians' opinions also vary on this point, although not as much. You have a more valid point about the closed-minded view points the church has on sex education than you do on the church's view on evolution. I think it will take awhile for Christians to be more open minded about sex education (just as it took them awhile to accept evolution as a plausible and acceptable theory)

Two reasons, as I see it. First, schools aren't intended to teach religious faith, but they are intended to teach science. Since evolution is supported by science, and creationism is not, only evolution should be taught. Second, even if schools were supposed to teach religious faith, it would be a bit unreasonable to only teach the Christian faith. Even though the majority of the people in the country are Christians, there are still a sizeable number of people with different beliefs.

Your question assumes creationism is wrong. Can you prove your theory of evolution is any more realistic, and if so what is it based on? There is lots of scientific evidence to back up statements made in the Bible for example.

FYI" I believe in both. Evolution is the method by which creationism happened. Meaning we could have evolved from monkeys, but God created everything. Large leaps like that seem unlikely though. I believe in evolution more within species.

honestly, I dont think anything should be taught in school unless it can be proven

and the last time I checked, there was still a missing link in the evolution theory, for humans anyway. [yes i believe other things evolve]

there was clearly a defined law in the constitution about the seperation of church and state, and even though I am christian, I believe that we shouldnt FORCE our opinions on everybody else.

and it shouldnt be taught in schools as a fact when facts can be proved and sadly faith cannot.

Agreed, Creationism should not be taught and it has no science in it. The Big Bang would be the most logical choice to teach.

Hi Alex,
I want the students to hear BOTH SIDES of the story. I want them to have the opportunity to hear about CREATION as GOD actually did it and to hear the story of evolution as you seem to believe that it happened. That way we have the best of both worlds. If you want them to hear about your stork story then I suppose that you could go to school and tell that story also. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend!

Eds: If we teach your Creation story, should we teach the Navajo legend? How about the Greek story, and the roman story, and the Druidic story, and the Zulu story, etc...?

They all have as much evidence as your version.

Well if we're going to force the teaching of evolution we might as well add something similar such as the stork teaching, to compare it to.
