Can my friend do this?

Can he take a class at a community college and transfer that credit to another community college?

Ex: My friend wants to take a class at his community college but can't becasue it starts to late, he works during those hours (7:00-10:00pm)....so can he take that course at another cc and transfer the units/credit to the college he attends?

Probably yes, but, he should check with both of the colleges. But if they are in the same state, it should not be a problem. Below is an example web site at a community college:
