I am so worried about her...anyone have advise...I called the vet and she said to wait till her heat is over cause its more of a risk to do it when they are in heat...she didn't say anything else....
I am so worried, I love her so much. Any advise? Please be serious, don't need any wise remarks...

I think that the risk of mammary cancer is raised every time the dog goes into heat, and I think that it is around 10%. She could of developed mammary cancer even if she was spayed before heats, but her chance is just a little higher now. I would get her spayed immediately after going out of heat so the risk does not get any higher.

I"M NOT A VET.....but at this point in time, preventing a litter should be your main goal. Doggies do what Doggies do ...and we get more doggies. Unless YOU want more doggies, keep the girl (I could have said *****) inside. A she in heat is a loud thing to say the least. But not as loud as a litter of yippers who need a home. Trying to get her spayed is the first right thing, keeping her a virgin until she is out of heat has become the next right thing. DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING.... She'll thank YOU with doggie wet kisses for years to come.

i would not worry about the mammary cancer, the risk is higher but does not go up significanlty until after the second heat, because the first heat is not indicative of the end of pubery, the second is. Just think about it like girls, just because they have thier first period does thier bust size stay the same at that point?
it takes until two heats for them to be "women" so relax, and let her get spayed on time.

Hello: It is not advisable to have a puppy spayed while in her first heat: too many hormones, etc. Just grin and bear it. Just be certain to make another appointment as soon as the first heat is over. I don't about mammary cancer. but certainly would not take chance. Good luck with your cuty.

I dont know why he said not untill spring.. most dogs have their first heat between 6-9 months...

Dont worry about the cancer..

And it is more of a risk to spay in heat... its due to the bleeding..

You can get her spayed after her heat is over... no biggie :)

nicely, spaying throughout warmth is quite plenty out of the question as maximum vets won't do it, and in the event that they do, they cost so plenty extra money. So, you will purely would desire to attend till that is ended. there is not any difficulty as some distance simply by fact the version of spaying her in the previous or after her first warmth. the reason vets do no longer prefer to spay throughout a warmth is that their uterus is engorged with blood, and this is an exceedingly messy surgical operation, and that they'd purely truly truly no longer do it.

Laea, relax girl. Your lil one will be just fine. Spaying just reduces the risk of cancer, not prevent it. It's good that you are concerned over your puppy and I'm glad your going to do the right thing in spaying her. Your vet is right. :-)

She will be fine! Get her spayed once her heat cycle is over and quit worrying already! My vets usually recommend one heat cycle anyway. Just keep her locked up so she can't be bred.
