I am a smart girl and I'm always applying for scholarships online but I have not received any. People always say theres free money out there for school but it seems like I try the hardest to get one and never do! Should I just accept how it is or keep trying

It is because many people are trying for scholarships. Sure there are millions of them out there. However, it might be the time to try other approaches in locating scholarships. These methods are free, too.

First, try the high school guidance office. It has a list of local scholarships for current high school students.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, try the college's financial aid office. It has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major will list scholarships on its website too.

Good luck!

I understand exactly where you are coming from! I had the same experience when I was in high school trying to get money for collge. This is my advice applying for random scholarships online at websites like fastweb.com is a waste of time and energy. Decide which schools you are truly interested in and visit their financial aid website. On there they should have a link for available scholarships. Put all of your energy into applying for these. This is good because you can actually contact the school with questions and of the scholarship has been awarded. Also visit local Lawyers offices, libraries, and private medical practices and ask them if they offer any scholarship competitions for college students. Many times these businesses are anxious to get there names out in the community and help students. Good luck!

Are you getting rejections or just haven't heard anything? If you are getting rejections that means that you need to adjust whatever you are sending to the scholarships companies. If you haven't heard anything then be patient because most scholarships do not contact applicants till april-may. Also continue to apply and do not be discouraged if the application is lengthy.

Keep trying. Hard work and perserverance are the key. People are very careful about who they give their money to - so convince them that you deserve it best!
