Sadly it could be very possible. I didnt fully realise until last year, when i was 35, that i was suffering from depression and had done for most of my life. I just thought thought that i was having some kinda down days but it would get better and a lot of the time i was either up or down. I have been receiving counselling and the my life is now a better and happier existence, i dont feel that the world would be better off without me, i can face the each day knowing that i have been through worse and i now know how to cope with it.
The hardest thing was actually acknowledging and admitting to myself that i was depressed and then seeking help.
If you think you maybe depressed go and see your doctor and talk to them about it and see if they will refer you to a counsellor.
I hope this helps you. Good luck.

i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder last year, i went through a great deal of depression and manic states. i then realized that i had been having the syptoms for a long time but just never noticed them myself. the doctor said there is no cure for such illness, i had to take pills that causeed so many side effects, i also had therapy. my parents started to get worried with the side effects...on the other side, the pills did not seem to help much. since my whole family immigrated here from china, my parents believe in chinese medicine (mixture of different kind of herbs) and it doesn't have any major side effects. so i switched to chinese medicine. the chinese doctor said i will be absolutely fine in a couple months, and i really did! since then, i haven't had any of the symptons until now, and i start to become more and more self-motivated and optimistic. i know western people don't believe in chinese medicine, but many people that i know of found that it really works. i sound like i'm promoting chinese medicine or something, but it's not that, just a suggestion for you to try since it worked on me and people i know of. it's a lot of work to make the medicine though, but it definitely worth it. give it a try...but with chinese medicine, you have to be patient because it takes time. the result might be diferent depending if the doctor is good. let me know if you want to know the details.

Yes - it's very possible. 1 in 10 people could be clinically depressed. The good thing is, it's something that can be dealt with - it's never too late. The best first stop is your GP - they can refer you for counselling or start you on antidepressants (which DO work really well)

Alternately, try St John Wort from a health food shop - this is a proven 'natural' anti-depressant. My money is on the GP tho.

And good luck - you are never on your own :)

You are going through somthing that alot of people will give you **** about and you don't have to refer to yourself as a punk unless you want to. Treatment is not any quick fix, but get familar with what treatment can do for you and explore alternatives to meds while you still can because over time you could become the final product and live in misery that leads to feeling suicidal.

Young people are not to be given adult diagnoses The mental disorder is called turret syndrome for all youth. What you have now you can solve now if you study what causes depression. Your brain doesn't like to relearn and will make you ill when life shows your beliefs were wrong. Stay with your pills until you can change and get strong again.

HI Mate, im sorry your going through tough times. I am going through something simillar, find myself starting to look back now and think 'was i ever happy'.

So yeah i believe it is possible but perhaps try and look at the situation coming to a head as the opportunity for a change in perspective??? Maybe. now you understand the symptons perhaps you can treat the cause.... just a thought...

I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I am 37. The funny thing is the "things" that bothered me at 13 are the things that have resurfaced now!!!!! Wierd!!

Go to a doctor. Medication is a start, but I would recommend counseling.

Good luck! You are not alone!!! Remember that!

Many of the problems we have stem from our childhoods.

I suggest you find a good counselor to discuss how you are feeling and they can gently take you back to your childhood to heal it, which is what you need.

Go to someone who will do talk therapy and is not quick to put you on antidepressants (only if you are suicidal or have a specific mental health problem should you be on medication).

You can do this, it will ease your pain and get you on the right track. Take care.

no i don't think being spaced out, and feeling nothing. has much to do with depression. from my stand point i am just the opposite i feel every thing i very seldom space out my mind is to busy to space out i wish i could space out. that's what normal people get to do is feel nothing and space out and be able to forget about things, when you are depressed like i said you feel every thing and it hurts,it makes you worry, some times get stuffed up like if you have a cold and cry a little but then i tell my self to get ah old of my self. my stomach starts to hurt and i don't no if it from the stress are what, from your description does not tell me to much. you might be sick most likely you are only you no how bad you feel,
