any child born of united stated citizen parents is considered a natural born american citizen at birth no matter where you are born. the child is not considered a naturalized citizen but considered a natural born citizen. this happens a lot to parents who work abroad and have children. they are automatically american citizens and the parents just need to go to the american embassy in the country they are in and file the paperwork.
by the way, liebermann has dual citizenship (american and israeli) and he did run for vice president in the democratic ticket with gore. he is a natural born american citizen and also a citizen of israel!!
several main candidates have sought the office who were born outside the United States ... ex., george romney was born in mexico to U.S. parents..... and John McCain was born in the panama canal zone to U.S. parents and these two men are running for president in 2008!!!. ......barry goldwater who run for the top office years back was born in arizona while it was still a U.S. territory and another person is kathie lee gifford who is a natural born american citizen was born in paris to US citizen parents.
that then proves my point!!! children of american citizens born anywhere in the world are considered natural born citizens. .....and dual citizenship as long as the person is a natural born american citizen does not disqualify one from running for the top offices in the country.

I think this would depend on why your parents were overseas at the time of your birth. If both parents are US citizens you would be a US citizen but able to have a dual citizenship paper since you also happen to be born in that country...but legally you could be considered an American. and only circumstances caused you to be born overseas....what that law is for is for parents who are citizens of another country and have a child there then the child moves to the states then comes here to become a citizen
Or at least that is my thinking of this....

Yes, if both your parents or one of your parents is a US citizen, you then become a US citizen by descent even if you are born overseas. Your parents can register your birth through the embassy of that country where it happens when you are born.
You then get your documents like SSN, citizenship registration and also a US passport if your parents decide to get you one rather than letting you travel on theirs. Yes, you can run for president if you were born overseas to US citizens because you became a US citizen the moment you were born to 2 American parents or when you have at least one American parent. Only naturalized citizens and those who have never lived in US for at least 14 consecutive years cannot run.

No, we just learned about this in Government. In order to become President, you MUST be born in the U.S., or on a U.S. military base. You also must be 35, and live in the U.S. for at least 14 years.
