Smoking can ruin your life and the life of people around you. I am a thirteen year old child and my parents have smoked all my life, and continue to do so. I am constantly teased behind my back about how I reek of smoke, and I cannot do anything about it. I was even teased by a teacher before, which is the worst thing of all. I am often thought of as a smoker because I smell like it, and it's harder for me to run and breathe because I've been exposed to smoke all my life. Also, I do not like watching my parents waste away with smoke. So, basically, I know you must be stressed, because you're smoking at age fifteen- but please, stop. Quit in any way possible, as long as it's healthy, of course. Smoking will effect your life in the long run, and if you don't care- well guess what, you're children and friends will. Stop smoking, and then you won't have to tell your parents anything.

Don't ruin your life before you've given it a chance.

There are so many methods to quit smoking. You can use a nicotine patch or some nicorite gum, or you could take up a healthy habit to replace smoking- such as running your urges off on a treadmill. If you're not big on excersising, try doing something you enjoy, and distract yourself from puffing it up. If you quit smoking now, you're body won't be so effected.

It takes about ten years for a smoker to fully recover, if they've been smoking for five years, I've been told.

As for breaking it to your parents, if you have to, tell them this:
"Mum, dad- I WAS smoking. But now I'm quitting."

Don't lie. You're fifteen. Put your life in the right direction, and follow what you say. Carry it out.

And you say that if she finds out, she'll beat you... Hmmm. Thorny situation. If that's truly the case, and you're talking about a beating, not a spanking or a quick whup, I say that you don't tell her, and you quit right now.

Best of luck.

At 15 your in high school, join a team. All teams in my area have a behavior pledge that is signed by the teens and their parents. One of the rules is no smoking or your off the team. Then tell your "friends" that you can't smoke or you can't play.

As for your parents, they probably know by the smell on your clothes. So talk to them and see if they can come up with a better way out for you.

First of all, be honest to your parents. If your mom gets mad for you smoking, how is it that you are going to quit if she doesn't quit herself. I hope you already know what smoking can do to you. Not sure if you want to quit or not either. But don't smoke if you don't want to. Don't do it because your friends make fun of you, you chose to smoke, but there are consequences too.

Just tell your mom that you started smoking. Maybe all of you can quit together.

wow. ok, frankly, i don't think you should tell your mom. i mean unless your mom is cool with that kind of stuff. however, you cannot blame this on peer pressure. especially if you're going to tell your mom. she won't buy it. you made the decision and now you have to live with it. if you would've said "no" (if it was your friends who offered it to you), then they should've/would've been like "ok.. cool" and let it go. but you made the decision and you continued that decision so much that your addicted now. you have to realize that before you tell your mom. she has to see that you're taking responsibility for your actions, and not blaming it on friends or peer pressure.

I am sure by now she has smelled the cigarette smoke on your clothes and figured it out, she is just waiting for you to come clean and tell her.

2 options for you. Tell her now, be honest. Or, let her find out when you tell her you have lung cancer.
