NONONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got the whole story wrong! God gave Abraham a test of Abraham's faith. He wanted to see whether Abraham would obey him or not! He stopped Abraham from doing it and gave him a lamb for the sacrifice!

But God did not allow Abraham to kill his son, did He? At that time, in that part of the world, most of the popular religions advocated child sacrifice. Children were immolated or killed on the altars of false deities and idols all over; it was widespread practice. God showed that He was different. He proved it when He stopped the sacrifice of Isaac. He was testing Abraham's faith. He had promised Abraham that a great nation would be descended from Isaac; obviously this could not happen if Isaac died in childhood. Abraham trusted God's word, and knew that if he obeyed God, God would somehow spare the child, because God does not lie. So Abraham proved his trust in God's word, and God proved that He was apart from and unlike false gods.

Tim Tim Tim...It is a prophesy of Christ who was God's only begotten Son and the sacrifice God was going to make. Consider Issac carried the wood to the mountain for the sacrifice. Issac asks his Father where is the lamb for the sacrifice...Abraham answers..The lord will provided himself a lamb then as Abraham is sit to kill the child of the promise. God stops him and tells him to get a ram that was trapped in the briers...Afterwords Abraham names the place Jehovah Jirah which means the lord will provided because it is where Abraham said the lord will provide himself a lamb.

No, God does not want us to kill our children. He is a just but merciful God, and and certainly prohibits such actions. The 6th Commandment He gave to Moses was, "Thou shalt not murder." He told Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac, because He was testing his faith in Him.

No because first of all yes God did tell Abraham to sacrafice his son to test his faith but god did stop him from doing it. You see that was the old testament the new testament is about Jesus giving his life for us he was our sacrafice he is our faith in god.

Abraham's faith was tested as he was to be the father of all nations, I don't think anyone else qualifies. Fair try, your theory doesn't work!

Well first of all if you reread it youll note that Abraham didnt actually sacrifice Isaac. That story teaches us one thing, not to sacrifice humans, but to value God above all else including our children. If you love your children or family more than God, you are not worthy of him.
And no, the Bible does not teach to murder or do human sacrifice.

God wants us to be willing to give all to Him, but He doesn't want to take things. Note it was a ram that was sacrificed. Now we don't need a sacrifice as the Lamb of God was enough.
