I am in Michigan and we say POP!
But I have been to Atlanta and they use the word COKE to signify a soda pop. In that city at least, a POP means a shot of whiskey in a glass of beer...lol!

People from the north usually say Pop.. from south say soda.. some strange people say Soda Pop.. and then there are the ones that call it Coke.. as in "would you like a coke?".. you answer yes.. "what kind?".. then you answer orange, pepsi, root beer, etc.

Being from western New York and living a lot of my life in SOuthern California, let me tell you what I have observed. It fully depends on where you are is to how it is said. In WNY, it is pop. In California, if you say pop, they look at you like you have two heads.
