We all think that Hilter was wrong for the genocide of the Jews and other races of people. Yet God tells the Isrealities to commit genocide.

Deut 20: 16-17
However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the LORD your God has commanded you.

Why would God ask this?
Secondly, would you commit genocide if God told you to?

those people had temple prostitutes and gave their kids to be it.
They also burned them in the fire alive to false gods.
Those people had horrible lives and were totally depraved.
Jews were just normal people going about normal lives, he was the meniack.

The Jews were murdered and we all thought that was horrible. The Christians were slaughtered during the 1ts century and we all thought that was horrible. Those people you refer to were wiped out and we all thought that was horrible. I'm sure many more people groups can be inserted into that phrase.

Seems we don't need God's approval to continue doing those same things, does it? It's the life after this one that we need to be worried about. God intervened back then to wipe out sin and establish His promise. Don't be fooled by thinking that God isn't a just God too. There are things he'll tolerate for now in this period of grace but when that time is up..back to judgment.

The commands that God gave the Old Testament Jews were to ensure that their race survive and stay pure so that there would be no question who the Messiah was when he came forth because he would be the one who would fulfill all of the prophecies concerning who he is and why he came. They're not to be applied today to the physical state of Israel which is not the Israel of God. The Jewish nation and the Israel of God were no longer the same body after Jesus was crucified.

The difference is that these people were against God and despite God giving them the chance to repent, they did not. The other difference is that it is GOD who gives the command, the creator of the human race and the one who decides the fate of our race, while Hitler is just a man who wanted to destroy the Jews out of hatred of his own kind.

For the last part, if God commanded it, then yes, because it is obedience that He asks for. When Abraham was told to sacrifice his own son--someone he knew and loved--he did without hesitation, despite how much it would hurt him. But God stopped him and praised him for his obedience and everything worked out.

So that's my answer.

Yes and no. God is not asking this from us. If he did I would, but thankfully he is not. Yes, he commanded His people to do this, but as you can see as the rest of Scripture continues that stops. He had a purpose for wiping those people out (sinfulness?), but once they settled in Israel, this was no longer the case. When you get to Christ's time this is not even talked about. God no longer had a need for wiping out any nations.

You're making a false assumption, and that is that Christians are all Biblical literalists. A great many of us (a majority, in fact) are not. What you cite is a culturally biased history of an event, and not a law for the ages. Also, this is from the Old Testament. It is not inherently "Christian", it is Jewish. Even then, it is an ancient tale and taking it literally without knowing the background is risky.
