Yes, the first thing you should do is get a copy of all three of your credit bureau reports. As the prior answer states you are entitled to one free copy of all three bureaus every 12 months. You can access these by going to www.annualcreditreport.com . This is website ran by the federal government and the major credit reporting agencies. Any other website you go to claiming a "free credit report" is a scam or sales pitch more often than not.
Once you receive the copies, look for any errors, corrections, or missing items and file a dispute as necessary. When you receive your credit report, you'll also receive information on how to file a dispute.
Going forward, be sure to make all payments ON TIME. That is the single best way to start improving one's credit.

You should get the free reports from the credit services each year so that you can make sure nobody else is messing up your credit...
to repair your credit.. first pay off your debts...
save up some money to buy something like a new computer (but
then get an account to buy it on time.. that will take you just over a year to pay off (the reason you save up the money first is so you are SURE you can pay it off without being late or missing any payments)... your account should take at least a year to pay off or it won't increase your credit much.
at the end of that year your credit will be better because you have a history of making payments on time and paying off your debts... do it again.

you can go to free credit report.com. they will give you a free credit report once a year! After that go to your bank and get a secured credit card, that's always a good way. there are also some credit reparing cards. just do a search, and I'm sure you'll find one. If you credit is unrepairablly bad, then the best thing for you to do would be file for bankruptcy! Oh and before I forget do a search on debt consolidaters. They can lower your interests rate dramatically. Good Luck!

Yes. Keep in mind you're entitled to a free credit report from each of the credit bureaus each year. It's important to contact each bureau because some creditors report one bureau and not the others.
Once you have the reports, look them over to make sure all the information is correct. If it isn't, follow the procedures for disputing your report.
You could also consider credit counseling. It's very common these days for people to utilize these services.

Yes that just where u start u must know who and what is saying that u owe them money you must write letters to dispute the debt the company has i think it's 30 days to respond if they don't it will get took off your credit report with each letter they must respond an when they don't pop! it's off it's takes time but it works remember stamps are cheaper then a $800.00 credit repair guy. A good book to buy "Repair your own Credit and Deal with Debt " by Brette Mcwhorter Sember Attorney at Law (Sphinx Publishing) you will love it trust me! Good Luck

Yes you should start by getting all 3 reports and matching up accounts, finding out all errors, then doing your disputes keep track of all you do and when you do it,lay out a plan cause it will take 90 days to really see improvements.bad credit can be cleaned up trust me, no matter what you do now days the one thing they will want to see is your credit, the world looks at credit as"Your word on paper" Jus ask yourself what is your word to repay saying about you ?

As you are entitled to a free credit report from each of the 3 reporting services, only ask for one per quarter (every 4 months.) This way you can get 3 per year at different times. It will give you a better look at your situation throughout the year. e.g. Choose Transunion now, wait 4 months, get Experian, wait 4 months, get Equifax.
