I am looking to organize a vacation with a group of about 8 friends.
Renting a beach side villa is my plan and I am wondering if anybody can help me decide between Thailand, Indonesia, or someplace similar in Cost and climate.
The vacation would be for 10 days and renting a villa is a must. I would be able to go whenever the best weather would be.
Any help or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add that I have been to Thailand a few times while in the Navy. Phuket, Bangkok, and Pattaya. I'm just looking to relax and enjoy the country so Pattaya and the city of Bangkok are out.
I've never been to Indonesia but have heard good things about Bali.
I'm really not sure what to expect of Indonesia and I don't want to disappoint the group.

both thailand and indonisa is good. (but not malaysia, you can not compair thailand or indonisa with a small and boring malaysia!)
thailand got almost every thing you might want. from mountain to sea, from old and variety culture (a lot of ancient city in the world heritage list ) to the modern city.
if you like night life, then it look like they have party and festival every night in every in town tourist spots.
indonesia would be similar in term of diversity and variety.
malaysia?... boring very boring if you compare with the 2 country above!

Krabi and the Phi Phi islands of Thailand are beautiful and inexpensive. I think the best time to go is right before the rainy season which should start around September. Also, Thai food is pretty much universally liked by everyone and the Thai accommodation to foreigners is 5-star, as you probably already know.
However, there have been the bombings going on in Thailand, so it might not be safe. I think it's still more safe than Indonesia.
Indonesia has the best surf. If you're not going to surf, I'd say Thailand is the more ideal spot.

I'd advise you to go to Indonesia, although now probably wouldn't be much of a good time considering the current bad weather and some natural disasters.
Bali isn't the only place to look forward to in Indonesia. Lombok is also a good spot and it's less crowded than Bali, and the beaches seem cleaner. Lake Toba in North Sumatra would also be a nice place to visit as an alternative to beaches, since it's a giant lake located in a mountain valley, with an island of its own in the lake. You could also go to North Sulawesi and visit Bunaken underwater natural park, which would be perfect for underwater activities like snorkeling.

Bali would be a good change. Malaysia would be an excellent choice as well. they have lovely affordable and beautiful beaches and islands for you to hop around. Try Sipadan(near Sabah - featured in the first season of Survivor) or Tioman island off the coast of Pahang(great for snorkelling and scuba diving). Check out Perhentian island and Redang island too. Great places with scenic villas. Or hop over to the west coast where u can get a lovely villa at Langkawi Island or Pangkor Island. Philippines? Try Boracay though it may b a little crowded during the summer. Best times to visit these places would be the summer as the weather would be great for sun bathing...and get a real good tan.
Have fun....

Hi, what do you consider for relaxation for 10 days? Definitely not just bumming around o the beach?
I can offer you places to stay in Thailand, knowing that there are nice beach resorts in Krabi, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Koh Chang, etc. Just what you are looking for. A villa for all of you.
Indonesia will have to be Bali. However, I am not able to offer much info on it. But I doo know it will not have the beach villas like in Thailand!
Look at www.asiarooms.com for choices at these beach areas. Pick one that suits your choice.

I think you can try Indonesia. But don't choose somewhere near Jakarta or Yogyakarta. Try Bali (its almost paradise with all those beach and food + culture). But I think you had better do research of the places in the internet. With more information, you can choose which one you will love. By the way, Indonesia have alot of interesting places. Can not list all of them here as it just too much. For Thailand is quite interesting too, but they just have a few places.

Hi,
Since you've been to Thailand, and organizing a group. I suggest you go to place where you have a little exp.
Indonesia is a nice place, and perhaps you can broaden the area by visit both Thailand and Indonesia (Bali)...
Bali is small island, and its rather easy to get where to go, best pubs and other cool stuff....
Malaysia...I dont suggest...Vietnam is ok but the custom is not very friendly....Philippines.....not recomment bcos of the climate
Have a nice holiday!!!
