I would send out two sets of invitation, one for the people going to the wedding, and one for the people going to the reception.
www.verseit.com has a number of ways to phrase both of these. You can look for yourself and see what phrasing fits you the best.

Is everyone invited to the wedding?? If not you send invitations to those who are and Announcements to those who weren't.
Invitation would be your typical Who, What, When ,Where.
the Announcement is basically the same but in past tense.
Miss Amber Smith and Mr Joshua Young were Joined in Holy Matrimony on --date-- at--place---
Include an RSVP card for the reception in the reception invitation saying Reception will be held at--Place-- Date--Time--Please RSVP by--date-

It would seem this is a fairly simple thing and I imagine you have gone to wedding sint he past and seen other people's invitations. Take a cue from them. I mean, this isn't rocket science. Your names, the date, time, place, etc., etc. Mention the reception is at a later time and place, etc. Come on, use a little imagination here! It sounds to me as though you might really be better off having printed invitations from a printer, as the printing would all be taken care of from the information you supply.

Mr.& Mrs. (Your parents names here)
and
Mr. & Mrs. (His parents names here)
Request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children Amber (Middle name) Smith, to Joshua (Middle name) Young on (the date of the wedding) at (the time of the wedding) at ( The name of the place you are getting married.)
And on the other side of the invitation i would suggest putting a very nice phrase, bible verse, or love quote. Here is an example
( This day I will marry my best friend, the one i laugh with, live for, and love. )
Hope i have helped!

What you might do is send an announcement/ invitation combo.
Something like you are cordially invited to a reception in the honor of Amber Smith & Joshua Young who were married on XXX

Well who is paying? Are the bride's parents paying or you two?
Here is an example (traditional)
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith cordually invite you to celebrate the wedding of their daughter
Amber Smith
to
Joshua Young
On Saturday, May 23, 2007
at 1:00pm at St. Mary's Church
145 Main St.
Orange, Fl 08293
Reception to immediately follow at
O'toole's restuarant and grill
138 Apple st
Orange, FL 08293
If both bride and groom parents are paying put both names at the start. If you guys are paying yourself say something like "You are cordially invited to the wedding of....."
good luck. I was going to print my own but I realized it is easier to buy the invitations and envelopes from a company that will print them and just print up RSVP cards myself, only.

Come to sunny Hawaii, go surfing, have a tropical drink, and watch us get hitched!
Then go into the usually stuff about the details.
