If the poles were to shift on the Earth causing north to be south and south to be north would that disturb the way electrical components function. Would they be restored to their original state if the Earth shifted back to the state previous to the shift?

The Earth's magnetic field, which is about 300 mgauss (very weak), has no direct effect on the operation of integrated circuits. The Earth's magnetic field, however, determine the magnetic Van Allen belts which extend into space, and the nature of these very much affects the function of ICs on earth and in space (satellites). They determine the number of energetic particles from space that hit ICs and can cause malfunction by creating bit-flips. In space, they have the same effect but also determine the total ionizing dose an IC would experience.

they don't really the field is too weak. What does happen on occasion is that a cosmic ray flips a transistor
