My friend works at a hair salon (nothing fancy, but not a chain haircutting place) and she is doing a trim, highlights, and a styling but charging me much less ($50) than would normally be charged. I don't know how much to tip her, I want to reflect that I know she's giving me a huge discount plus she does really great work. How much should I tip her?? Thanks

I usually tip my stylist between fifteen and twenty so if you bumped it up to twenty five that would show your appreciation. So an extra twelve or fifteen dollars.

My ex-girlfriend was a hairstylist. According to her, a tip should be between 10 and 20% Obviously, 20% for something really good.

If you are getting a good deal and great service, 20% would be a fine gesture.

Ask people you know how much they pay for the same service and what the normal percentage is to tip (10%, 15%?) then double it for your friend.

Tip her based on what you would tip if she were charging the full price. Same principle as restaurants--if you have a gift certificate, you tip on the menu price.

Tip her as if she hadn't given you the discount. 20 % of the full price. It took her just as long, even if it didn't cost you as much.

tips should always be at least 15% of the bill. anything else is just bieng a good tipper.

Actually, that isn't a whole lot cheaper. I have a good friend who is a stylist and she is cheaper than that.
