On the other hand, the Bible was written over a span of years by mortal men who alleged they were writing what the deciples would have said if they had been the writers.

Both books or compilments of books as the Bible and the Koran are, have become the so-called "The Word of God" (or should that be "The Words of God" since there are so many of them?) and believed by people years later in degrees of belief from slightly to totally and unexceptional.

Should a person really read these books, take from them what he or she regards as sensible to him or her and then find a church sect that agrees mostly with that person's thoughts on the subject of religion? In many cases this would disregard parental teachings and long held beliefs of race and ancesteral passed on religions.

How do we know they aren't both wrong?

The Bible was written by many people over the span of 1600 years. People from many walks of life, at different points of each of their lives. It has a continuing theme, God, it makes sense. I've had poeple show me contradictions in the Bible and I would show them that it wasn't a contradiction, just a misinterpretation!! There are plenty of those. The Bible was never proven wrong!! In over 4000 yrs. It is the absolute Truth.
Archeology supports what is written in the pages of the Book. The first century historians wrote about Jesus.
Luke was a historian of the highest order! He told us point or reference, afterpoint of reference! The Bible is designed that if you believe one part, you must believe all of it.
The Bible also says
"that if we, or an angel from heaven, preach not this gospel, let them be accursed". In other words, if anyone, or anything, is preaching a gospel other than the gospel that the apostle were preaching, they will be cursed!
All this from a book with hundreds upon hundreds of prophesies that were fortold hundreds of years of years before they happened. Prophesies that we can understand, not like Nostradomus, whose prophesies were vague at best.
The Bible also states that we are not to add to or take away from what is written in this Book. If we try to ad to it, we will pervert it. If we adto it, we will also pervert it. The Book was so well written and preserved, it doesn't need anything else.

Much of the teachings of Mohamad and the Latter day Saints are similar. Both were visions and visitations that proclaimed what has become both religions. Much of the stuff that is taught in both are hearsay and you know how credibility that has. God's Word, written, spoken or by inner impression is directly from God to man and He and His Word are one. It can always be confirmed by one or more witnesses. It is not about religion, it is about reality and relationship. With that in mind, then everybody that has ever experienced God speaking out of them could claim to be the savior. That would and should include every body that is operating in one of the five fold ministries. Since God is not a respecter of persons that would be anybody that is a willing vessel. It is up to us to discern and to NOT let people follow us but to follow the message. It should always confirm or it isn't from God.

First of all, Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) did not write the Quran. He was illiterate, and so he relayed the words from the angel, Gabreel, gave him to his followers.

The reason, I beleive, we do not see any spectacular miracles (as they existed in those times) nowadays is because nobody would believe them. Back then, people would not believe anything unless they had physical proof.

For example, Moses, a prophet of God, was able to turn the sticks into snakes because the other sorcerers were contradicting him. They won the "crowd" over because they showed them their magic.

Because magic, or the idea of magic, is forbidden in Islam, Moses could not do something like this, so God worked through him.

I don't knwo how that answers your question, but i hope it does. You seem like you genuinely want to know.

MOhammed also gave one test for himself to Jews and chrstians... and a fairly good one...

Jews should check the TOrah to see what he was saying was true... Christians should check the gospels to see what he was saying was true..

they checked... it wasnt... and Muslims have set aside that the Bible and the Koran have disagreed claiming the Bible is corrupt... this is a faily serious dilemna for Mohammed writing int he 7th century..

he thought the Bible agreed... but it did not
I therefore cannot trust him as a valid prophet of God

first of all muhammud sallahualayhewasallam was illiterate and never wrote the quran. he recited. the word quran means to recite. he recited the quran. the word of god. there are people in this world who memorize every word of the quran. the quran is not like the bible nor the torah. not one verse matches any of the other books. the caliphas in islam were the ones who recorded the quran. so muhammud p.b.u.h. never did say he wrote the quran. it was a devine revelation from god. it is up to you weather you want to read the quran or not. no one is forcing you. religion has been around before you and will be around after you. please get your facts straight when making statements about the prophet p.b.u.h.

Because Muhamad gave the tribes who were lower in society rights and made them equal to the ones above them. He also wanted to unite Arabia. Also the legal codes worked until they were twisted into justifying terrorism and war. everybody should read some holy books to see if thats what they believe or not. If you havent read it, how do you know you dont believe it? That why im reading the Quran and i might read the vedas as well.

Why should one not read such books? Even if they were written by ordinary people, does that mean that there is nothing worthy in them?
And, yes, I believe that everyone should choose what parts of every holy book do it for them and set their life in that direction. That is freedom - information and choice!
