If you are legal are and you feel your family is dragging you down then you certainly should consider putting some distance between you.......my bf had a very damaging mother and picked up and moved 3000 miles (kind of over kill!!) to have a chance at a sane life and it worked out very good, she had some rough times but overall she gained self esteem, street smarts, and now she actually lives about 45 mins. from the mother and everything is good because of the strength she gained by being completely on her own. Good luck to you!!

If you are 18+ years of age, you can relocate for any reason that you see fit. If you don't like your family, are there not some friends that you would miss if you move?

Most people who move out-of-state seek excitement, or a better job, or a college degree. You can stay away from your family even if you live just one town away from them. You can probably also make a good living in New Jersey.

No, just leaving the state due to not liking your family is not a good reason. It would be different if something awaited you in the new state. It would also be different if you were moving with a friend (s).

Good luck, no matter what you decide.

We don't need to agree with everybody but just understand them. If you don't get along with them you can try to respect their point of view at least. A hard can't it be! And good or bad they are your family and if you'll need help they'll probably be there for you.

No. It is not a wise decision. What you could do is pay attention to your life instead of paying attention to what your family is doing and saying.
