I like cooking rice with Saffron; a.k.a Spanish rice. My wife likes to add cumin to beans, but I prefer using smoked Mexican peppers (e.g. chipolte).

Try using a product (spice packet) called Sazon. It's made by a company called Goya and should be available in the international foods section of your grocery store. There are a few varieties, so give them all a try. I like the tropical version.
As for recipies, look up Coban recipies - Food from that island is amazing.

Do you mean bland? Add some chili powder and a little cayenne. Next time put a dash of hot sauce and white vinegar in it. It really peps it up!

try it with some hot sauce. or lots of cracked black peper. i love spicy food.
i do not suggest adding alot of salt. although that will give it some flavor too. because it makes you bloated.
