Hello Christians. Do you love Jesus? If so, how much?

If you had a child and that child asked you: "Who do you love more daddy, me or Jesus?", would you respond in the Christian way, and tell your child you love Jesus more than you do him or her, or would you lie to your child and tell them you love them more than Jesus?

I always knew Christians were horrible influences on children.. but wow.. this is a new low.

First I would tell the child that there is really no reason to compare how much I love Jesus versus how much I love her/him. I would tell the child about the great love I have for him/her. I would tell the child that he/she is a gift to me that came from God, and that God loves us all. I would tell the child that Jesus loves us all so much that he was willing to die on a cross to obtain our salvation.

The purpose is to get the child to know Jesus, so that they can have a love relationship with him also. Children needs to know that our love of Christ does not subtract from our love for them. Indeed loving Christ can cause you to love your family even more. With so much apparent love abounding, questions of who is loved more, Mommy or me, Father or sister, etc. become irrelevant.

I have already responded to that question with my children and I told them the truth, perhaps you could share with us how much YOU love Jesus? How do you answer? Even if we say we love Jesus more, is it true, I mean, really true?

It is amazing to me how much capacity that we humans have to give lip service to Jesus, all the while living like our families, or our work, or our ministry are our idols. Or claiming to love our family more than our work or our ministry, but then working long hours, and missing important milestones in our children's lives, and sacrificing our families on the altar of success. We have an unmeasurable ability to deceive ourselves into thinking we are all right, no matter the mess we are making of things.

It's a good thing we have such a loving Saviour, that speaks to us, and gently brings us back to His side with that famous shepherds staff and the rod.

How can you love someone you do not know? They know nothing of God. He has a personal name, Psalms 83:18. The bible holds so many wonderful answers and they do not seek. They just listen to what they are told and accept it. The most powerful being in the universe and people of all nations ignore him and his word. His son Jesus was the personification of him when he was on earth. Jesus said to him: “Have I been with YOU men so long a time, and yet, Philip, you have not come to know me? He that has seen me has seen the Father [also]. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’ John 14:9

I tell the truth. God is number one - but that does not in any way lessen the amount of love I feel for my children. They know how very much I love them. They also know that they are in their dad's and my care for a short time and that we will do the best we can for them - even if we had to give everything we have, including our lives. They are very secure in the knowledge that they are well loved, not only by their parents and siblings and friends, but even more so by God.

Yes, all Christians love Jesus. Why do ask that? I mean, why are we called CHRISTians if we don't love Jesus?! But it's not ALL about loving Jesus. You also have to believe in Him. And, you are suppose to love Jesus more than anything, including people. My mom loves Jesus more than me, and I'm not bothered. I love Jesus more than her, are we are very close. It is, however, hard to love a close person less than Jesus.

You have never had kids, have you. The answer to a child is that I love Jesus because I love you. No one ever says what you say, that would be stupid.

Loving Jesus is what it takes to be a Christian. @Steven, If I have a child asking that question, I'll tell him/her that I love him/her becoz Jesus loves me before I love Jesus, then You must love Jesus more than I becoz he loves us all, and thats all we need, His Love and his love alone.

Interesting .... When my daughter was murdered I wrestled with the fact that mourning her would destroy me and push me away from the love I had always had for Jesus..What a conundrum It took me a long time to figure out it wasnt a competition

I would tell my child the truth. He is 34 and already knows the truth. I hope he can tell me he loves Jesus more than me.
