In my wedding party I have 4 bridesmaids, and then I was going to have 2 junior bridesmaids. One of the junior bridesmaids is 11 and will be 12 by the time my wedding comes around. The other one is 6 and will be 7 before the wedding. I thought 7 might have been too old to be a flowergirl, but the other day she asked me, "does this mean I get to throw flowers down??". Now I am kind of reconsidering having her be a flowergirl in the wedding, do you think shes too old for it? Do I also need a ring barrer?

To answer your first question, 7 years old is definitely not too old to be a flower girl. She will be more excited because she'll be a more active participant in the wedding. It will also benefit you to have an older flower girl because she will understand exactly what she has to do as opposed to someone younger who might decide at the last minute she is too afraid (or tired, bored, etc). If you have other (younger) flowergirls, they will follow her example.

If you don't know someone who can be the ring barrer, you don't have to have one. You can just as easily have the best man carry the rings (I would suggest that anyway, as there is no telling what might happen to them if a little kid has them, use fake ones on the pillow).

It is your wedding, so it's your decision. I'm sure it will be beautiful no matter what you decide. I wish you and your fiance all the best.

hey my flower girl is 10 right now and probably will be 11 by the time of my wedding. So as long as the girl is young you can make any girl a flower girl. I am trying to have no kids under age 10 at my wedding because anyone under 10 is a waste of money because they dont care nor will ever remember my wedding and are too immature to handle a wedding ceremony under age 10, in my opinion. My flowergirl will not be wearing white she will wear a JR bridesmaid dress in the same color as the adult bridesmaids (different dress though) but she will be throwing down flower petals and is very excited about being my flowergirl.

I think that's a great age. I was a flower girl when I was 8 myself. My wedding is in September, and my flowergirl will be 8, my ring bearer will be 10 at the time. (my youngest brother).... who says we need 2 year olds running down the aisle gettin' all crazy, hehe. Sure, it's cute and all, but you pick the people you want to be in your wedding, mine just happened to be those ages. :D As far as a ring barrer, I guess you don't.... but why not?

Seven is the perfect age for a Flower Girl. Also, you DO NOT need to have a ring bearer if you do not want one. I had 2 Flower Girl's and no Ring Bearer at my second wedding. I also had a Ring Bearer and no Flower Girl in my first wedding. It is YOUR day, do what works for you. The Best Man generally carries the rings today anyway because of the value, so this is not an issue.

Good Luck, Congratulations and Have FUN!!!!

It is your wedding, and your flower girl can be as old or young as you want. It doesn't even have to be a girl. You could have a flower boy, or a flower man, or a flower woman. Do not feel you have to be bound by rules set by populism or conventional wisdom.
Of course, if she wants, and if you want, the 7 year old can be the flower girl, and if anyone comments, its not their wedding and they didn't pay for it!

PS My girlfriend (who is now 32) was a flower girl at a wedding when she was twelve.

7 is just fine, I think that's how old my flower girl was. You do not need a ring bearer if you don't have a specific little boy in mind. We just had the best man & maid of honor hold the rings until it was time and it worked great.

Your flower girl can be ANY age (its your wedding and if you want a 40 year old flower girl go for it!). And 7 does not sound too old.

You don't NEED a ring bearer just you like don't NEED a flower girl.

Not at all my neice who was in my wedding was 7 and she was excited about wearing a flower girl dress. I think it will be fine. My neice also acts and dresses like she is 12 and she loved the idea of looking like a princess. Get her a tiara they are a big hit for little girls.

I don't think 7 is too old to be a flowergirl. Whether or not you have a ringbearer is strictly up to your own discretion. Having a flowergirl doesn't mean you have to have one.
