There is a difference between of the world & in the world. I think a lot of christians use this as an excuse not to be in the world. And to escape from the world and hide is wrong.
We still need to in the world or else we will not influence others.

Word here refers to the human system that opposes God's purpose. I am the believe of Jesus Christ and my essential being , my new life, comes specially from God, and therefore I am not the same as those who opposes God. The world hated Him, so it is not surprise to me that the world will hate me because I follow Him. : )
