i say "thank you!". It's an just an expression. I really don't see any reason for a metaphysical debate. And if somebody else sneezes, i say "God bless you!" for the same reason. It's an expression. That's all there is to it.

I usually say "Excuse me" when I sneeze. I find that fewer people try to banish demons from me with their blessings this way. If they do it anyway, I start lecturing them about the etymology of that expression, and they learn quickly to stop it.
