Reality?
We live in a material universe - we think. Then, when we get into the microcosmos, things change, there are sights we could not imagine. Even smaller, in the atomic world, there are particles, which turn out to be energy no material substance there. There is no matter as we thought of! What then are we, energy?
Going beyond energy, what is there? Thought? Then we may just be thought and all together in an maginary world that we have created by thought - plants, animals and humans together.
We are so firmly believing in this created material world that is appears "real" to us, and would probably dissolve if we all would doubt it.
Yet, instead of creating this imaginary world of pain and suffering, we can as well create one of joy, divine love and sharing.
Ancient books tell us such wisdom, the ancients knew. We are the impoverished ones, having forgotten our heritage as co-creators.
It seems that we made ourselves a home in our imagenary world. Your faith can move mountains, said Jesus, using the mountains as spirtual symbols.
Imagenary world? We can be happy and train ourselves seeing reality.

That experiment had been tried many times and always fails. Meditating, concentration, prayer, etc. have zero effect on the physical universe. Mind over matter only has meaning in terms of education and knowledge of the material universe.

Does the sun rise in the east? Yes, it does. It is real, right? But we know that the sun appears to rise because of the rotation of the earth on which we live. If we travel out into space from the surface of the earth a few thousands of miles, we don't see the sun rising. So, what we see depends upon where we are.
Look at a drop of water with your bare eyes. Now look at the same drop of water with a microscope. what do you see? You will see many things you couldn't see with your bare eyes. So, what we see depends upon our mechanism of seeing.
Let us imagine that we overcome all our limitations of vision, and see the reality as it is. Then that would be the ultimate (absolute) reality.

One of the Hermetic principles is that the universe is mental, meaning how we see things is all in how the individual perceives it. I do believe in mind over matter in that we each create our own reality based on how we think, act, and react to what we perceive to be reality. Of course don't misconstrue that to mean I believe we can pull fluffy pink dinosaurs out of thin air or anything like that. But we might be able to convince ourselves (via mass hallucination) that that's what we see.
