Yes, evil is a force that opposes God and His work of righteousness in the world ( Rom 7:8-19 ). The ultimate source of evil in the world is Satan, also called "the devil" ( Luke 8:12 ) and the "wicked one" ( Matt 13:19 )
Evil has its core in not only refusing t allow God to be the God, but trying to be a god, as well, which is basically rebellion against God. That which is evil hates obeying God and submitting to Him. Followers of Jesus can rest assured that Jesus will triumph at the end of the time. : )

According to the verse, yes you are to hate evil. But hating evil does not necessarily mean hating an individual. You can still love the individual, just not the evil that this individual participates in.

define evil
since you defined evil as being that which is unnatural (by the way God is nature and everything in it), I would have to say everybody has a love/hate relationship with evil - can we really survive nowadays without some things that are not natural

Yes, hate evil. It's not a sin to hate or be angry at things worth it. God was angry at the people who didn't accept him. Jesus was angry at the merchants in the Temple. It's ok to hate the right things. It's NOT ok to go hating God, and hating every other person you see.

Evil is just the perversion of Good.
It's like...you have a cookie. And then, a rainstorm comes out of nowhere and makes your cookie all soggy. Of course you're going to hate the sogginess!!!
The cookie represents Good, and the sogginess, evil. The evil is not the RAIN, but the sogginess, or the perversion of the crispy-chocolaty goodness of the cookie.
So, yeah. When something bad comes along messing up something good, I'm not going to like it. I'm going to see the cookie as God wanted it to be, and I'm going to be sad that it's messed up and I can't enjoy it.
Wow, I hope that made sense.

Well thats a difficult translation to understand, but in simpler terms, we are to love what is good, and hate what is evil. Although we are still humans and make mistakes and fall for evil, we should strive to live for what is good.

It depends on whether the Christian obeys Christ--in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:39)--Christ told his followers to "resist ye not evil"--so a "true Christian would neither hate-nor love evil.Of course many Christians say they do hate evil--just realize that comes from church dogma---NOT Christs teachings--:]

Yes. You've got a pretty good source listed.
That doesn't give us the right to judge. Leave that to God. Hate the sin, not the sinner?

Hate the sin, not the sinner. It's a typical cliche, but true nonetheless. I take the god-given authority I have over Satan and use it.
