I'm supposed to be a scout for this modeling agency that is legitimate but has some questionable (maybe not illegal, but somewhat unfair) practices. They get jobs and pay their models, but they are very money-grubbing and try to take advantage of the young people. I recently felt like they were trying to take advantage of me in not allowing me to sell a photo shoot I had won. The owner is very two-faced and can be sweet upfront but nasty like Janice Dickinson when it comes to business. I want to have the opportunity to learn another facet of the modeling industry but I'm wondering if I should work with these ugly characters because then I'd be supporting their business that I believe is unfair. I can't decide whether to just do it for experience, stick to my morals and not work with shady people, or am I making too big a deal of the situation?

Read your contract and go from there but you need not sell your soul to the DEVIL to be in the business not all modeling agencies are the same if you do not like the way things are done then do what you have to to leave there and go work for a reputable company..

Follow your morals !! I worked for a long time for someone who was dishonest and I finally couldn't take it anymore.
It has taken me six months to try to shed all of the negetive energy that came along with the job. There are plenty of other agencys to work w/ !!

I think the main concern here isn't experience, but reputation. If you're looking to build a resume or to further your career, you won't do so by working somewhere that's frowned upon by others in the industry. I'd keep my standards, and look for somewhere else to build experience. Best of luck!

Don't do it! Even if you can get past all these negatives, you'll have a really tough time feeling motivated about your work. If you think this way about the business now, I can't imagine you'll feel any better about it in the future. More likely, you'll resent the job even more with time.

You obviously have serious doubts. Considering this, I would say you should follow the dictates of your conscience and not get involved with these sleazeballs. Learn from someone who has honor and integrity. Later you will thank yourself for sticking to your moral code.

You have probably answered your own question... sometimes it takes writing it out to see that they are probably not people you should hang with or do business with... there are lots of great people out there with businesses that would be a better influence and also treat you better and with respect. Good luck!
