Im not much of a religious person anymore but this still perplexes me, if God is the creator of everything, then he MUST be the creator of good and bad - or at least it was instill in us to make those choices, of which then makes him the creator of it.

How do you all see it?

Well if this God creatred everything the fact that evil exists means that this God must by defination have some evil within him.
After all if everyone he created was a part of him and any nof them have evil in them then logic dictates that evil had to come from somewhere and that means God!

I can see no other explaination so long as the claim is made that this God alone created everything and is all powerful and all knowing. These qualities all point to the existance of evil as being part of this God's grand plan!

God giving us the ability to make choices doesn't necessarily mean he's creating evil. When we do things that are wrong, we are the creators of evil. Because we're allowed to choose, it's up to us whether good or evil will take place. God is inherently good and I don't believe that he would intentionally create evil in the world. Maybe wickedness is just a byproduct of goodness just as a shadow is the result of an object bathed in light. Anyway, if he were the creator of bad, then we wouldn't be accountable for our sins because they wouldn't be our fault (which isn't the case)

Good and evil are like "light and dark", or "hot and cold".

Dark does not exist. There is no "dark" particle or "wave". It can not be measured or weighted. It does not exist. Darkness is the absence of light, which does exist

Cold does not exist. There is no "cold" force. There is nothing that causes "cold". It does not exist. Cold is the absence of heat, which does exist.

Evil is the same. It does not exist. Evil is the absence of good. Everything God made was good. But the first man made a decision to disobey God. The results was "evil" - the absence of good and God in his life. God did not create evil.

God did create man with the ability to make moral choices - and to live with the consequences. That is often called "free will". God wanted man to serve him by choice. But in order for man to freely serve him, he had to allow the possibility that man would not serve him also. Same as when he created light, it left open the possibility of darkness. Or when he created hot, it left open the possibility of cold.

God created the world and all of the people in it to be perfect. In the beginning there was no sin, evil, good or bad. When he placed Adam and Eve (the first two people ever made) he gave them the choice of free will. They lived in a beautiful garden with everything they could imagine (maybe what heaven is like). They were told that they could do whatever they wanted as long as they didnt eat from this one tree. Satan tempted them and they gave in. Although God created good/evil his intentions were never to make us fall for the evil. The free will is what makes our relationship with him true love. Without free will it wouldnt be true love.

Well, depends on what you believe. If you believe the Old Testament, then the answer is yes, he claims that he creates both good and evil.

Isaiah 45:7 in the King James Version reads, “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”

If you believe the New Testament then no, Satan is responsible for the bad.

Just always remember, there are no contradictions in the Bible.

Good is not 'a thing' and neither is Bad 'a thing' ... they are just 'concepts' or 'ideas' that HUMANS THINK ABOUT. We can do this 'thinking' because God created us with 'free will' ... so that we may 'decide' whether to be good (and go to Heaven) or to be bad (and possibly go to Hell) ... but I also think that 'in the end' all but the 'most evil' will be with God, and if He's anything like I know him to be, even those 'most evil' will be allowed to 'repent' to Him, and to go to Heaven too.

Think of it this way... for this thing called "light" to exist, then the opposite has to exist also. So... we have darkness. For the sensation of "warmth" to exist, we have to have "cold" to compare it to. So, if God created "good", then he had to have something to compare it to. Get the picture?

So... why does "evil" exist and why does God permit it? If God wants you to be "good"... then you have to have the option to be "bad"... right? If you are good because you have no other choice... then you aren't being good at all. It would be like a dog who stays in the yard... but only because he is chained up.

Make sense?

No, God gave people and spirit creatures free will. In Genesis it states that everything he created was good. He does not create bad or evil. People with inheritied imperfection do bad things. Also, people under evil influence can do bad things.

Good and Evil aren't really "things," at least in the field of Creation.

God might create a world where Evil is possible, but that doesn't mean He creates Evil.

Kind of like how I might bake a loaf of bread, which eventually molds. But that doesn't mean I made mold, does it?

C.S. Lewis had a good bit on this. If you're looking for the Christian's perspective on this, here goes..

Good and bad are not opposites of one another. Bad is just the perversion (for lack of better word) of good things.

Christians believe that when God (who is good) created, He created everything to be good, but that sin dirtied all of it.

I hope that made sense.
