I think the key to that whole victory was Leonard would get on the inside and pound away. This was unexpected, so Kalule was caught off guard and hurt. When Kalule finally started making power shots, Leonard switched to left handed on and off. It was all a big mind game and that's why there was never a rematch. I think Kalule would have won by KO in the 2nd fight.

Ayub Kalule, middleweight, used to be one of Uganda's greatest boxers in the 70's and 80's. He retired in 1986 having a professional record of 46 wins and only 4 losses. However, his losses are all by stoppage, including one with Sugar Ray Leonard in 1981.

Even how good you are, you just can not beat them all.

Ray was really starting to come into his own in the realm which only he would inhabit, he was just another level above Kalue as a fighter, however, it was not a cakewalk, and Kalue did snap his head back.

Anything can happen. how did douglas beat tyson? How did Ali beat Foreman? Now we see Ali was the greatest but back then everyone thought Foreman would literally kill Ali.
