1) I think Christ is the only way to heaven, every single person needs salvation, no one truly deserves heaven, but each person has an equal opportunity for forgiveness. The only exception is people who never get a chance to follow Christ, either by infancy or mental capacity

2) The Trinity is a strange doctrine to me, so I just believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but not that the three are one necessarily

3) I am not part of the religious right. I am conservative enough to never support homosexuality or gay marriage, yet liberal enough to not cast a vote to restrain them or isolate them

4) I believe the Bible is entirely true, but you have to look at it in context. Without context, in Matthew 1:1 you'll think David was Jesus' daddy and Abraham his grandpa.

5) I strongly support Separation of Church and State, and religious liberty, even for the most passionate Atheist

6) I think "Age of Reason" was a great book with some truths, but with many weak points

1) you think those things based on what evidence?

2) Then you're a polytheist (belief in more than one god) -- all christians are actually, though they deny it, they just explain it away by "merging" all three of their gods into one through that unintelligible "trinity" stuff. Catholics are the biggest polytheists, since they also pray to thousands of "saints" who by any definition are also gods.

3) good for you! Bravo!

4) Oh, so close, you were doing so well...if it's entirely true, how do you explain the different lineages given for jesus by Matthew and Luke? They're very different, and can't BOTH be right...
Then again, if "god" was jesus' father, then of what importance is Joseph's lineage back to David anyway, since jesus had none of his blood?
There are thousands of such contradictions, outright falsehoods, etc. in the bible...so why do you believe it to be entirely true in the face of so much evidence that it's not?

5) Thank you, but atheists don't need religious liberty, since we have no religion. We need liberty *from* religion being made into law. You're on the right track here, at least.

6) Ok, fine.

I'd say you are NOT a fundamentalist. You are far too tolerant and willing to let other people live their lives however they see fit to be a fundamentalist. You could still work on your reason and critical thinking skills, though -- keep at it!

Peace.

I always considered a fundamentalist to be someone who believes EVERYTHING the Bible says is true, no matter what. Do you? Like in Genesis, a lot of things don't make sense, so I just look at the message the book is trying to convey.

Anyway, you are a conservative Christian (not extremely conservative either), but I wouldn't say fundamentalist.

Here is a link to a place that talks about fundamentalism:

Depends, I agree with basically everything you state, but you didn't mention your views on witnessing. Most fundies have a tendency to harrass people with their witnessing, which I find to be a major downer. The bible tells us to spread the word, and its done as far as I'm concerned. Once they've heard of Jesus, and really, who hasn't, its their choice. People can't be talked or bullied into believing. So I'd say if you're the type to run around telling people they're going to hell for not believing or pressuring people to believe, then you might be a fundie.

Though I agree with everything you stated, I'm not a fundie because I don't try to convert anyone and I don't pressume to be Christ by telling people they're going to hell, that's entirely His job, not mine. That really ticks me off about fundies, trying to take His job, when the bible clearly states that He will be the judge, because He can see into our hearts.

No, you are not a fundamentalist, since you disagree with some of the fundamentals of the faith, of which the Trinity is a primary one.

You also claim that those who never hear of Christ get into heaven, dismissing the fundamental doctrine of original sin.

Most of the rest of your description are not fundamental issues, and aren't necessary to be a fundamentalist, contrary to popular opinion.

I don't know, but you are clearly a person of integrity. I do not think Christ is the only way to heaven - but I respect you being up front about what you believe, and in support of religious liberty. Thanks for posting.

Believing "the Bible is entirely true," is one of the basic definition of Fundamentalism.

Additionally, identifying yourself as being "conservative enough to never support homosexuality or gay marriage," implies that you value a religious doctrine over the rights of people to live their lives as they wish. And that feels like Fundamentalism, as well.

So yes, I think you're probably a Fundamentalist.

Alright Mr. Fundy explain these things from your bible.

1. Ephiesans 1:4 - 5 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. (Only those that were choosen before the foundation of the world would become Christian?)

2. Romans 9:21 - 23 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory. (God Created some for the sole purpose of sending them to Hell just so he could show those he created to go to Heaven how good he is?)

3. Malachi 2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it. (This God is Gross)

I'm not sure if that qualifies you as a fundamentalist, but you do have your facts straight. I do disagree with you on point 2, they are three in one. I've never read "Age of Reason", so I can't comment on that.

I'm atheist...

If you don't care and would let me be...then no.

If you would rather flip out on me or others like me, especially if we express our own views on some things in society...then yes.
