Wether is verbal description, a link or a pic. I already did research of my own into what my "interests" are and yet I came up with nothing. For your consideration while you suggest, here are a couple of things you might want to keep in mind about me. Things that can be incorporated into tattoo in some way.
1-I want something across my upperback.
2-I'm Mexican
3-1 brother, 3 sisters, (1 sister passed away when toddlers)
4-Birth father also passed away when toddler
5-Big on family
6-Strong & Proud
7-Do not want any gang related tattoos (names, old english letters, hand writing, family member faces.. you get the point. I'm thinking art with this tattoo)
8-Also nothing with religion & astrology beliefs.
You can see why I'm having a hard time. But I just had a birthday and This will be a present to myself: To express myself in a way that I want regardless who dissapproves of it (even my parents) Serious responses appreciated.

Like I said. I want something in my upper back. After some time in the gym, i see some results and I gotten complimented on my back. And watching TV I saw rapper Nelly with a tattoo on his uppper back. I loved the way it looked and I figured that's probably the most fitting spot for me. Thing is I'm not about to copy a rapper just because it looks cool. I want something cool but more than anything, meaningful. Thanks again.

This is some very useful information. I specially thank Rider, Tatt Brat, Somebody and Clamshell 19. I had a long day but most definitely I will sleep on all posted and let it marinate in my brain. We'll see. Most definitely keep the ideas and suggestions coming. I originally intended to get it done by Sunday to culminate my Bday weekend but it's probably best to take my time if I'm finally gonna go through with it. Thanks again. Have a great weekend everybody. .

Normally I would tell people they have to do their own thing...do their own homework, etc. but what I am seeing here is that you recognize what you want the tattoo to symbolize but you are not good at the artistic end of things to create something or bring physical ideas together that you would be happy with.
I would love to work with you on this if you were in my studio, so I would think there would be another artist near you with that same feeling.
In the gym, if you see tattoos that particularly appeal to you, ask them for a referral to their tattoo artist or ask for an appointment for a consultation with one you already know to be reputable. Many times the biggest name studios are not the best, so don't go by the largest ads in the phone book!
Bring your list and ask something to be designed and leave a heavy art deposit. Some shops only as for $50, others ask for more but this is going to involve a lot of creativity. Your artist must be able to do great custom work. You want it to be GREAT.
If he/she works something out for you and it is not quite right, say so - we all want our clients to be happy with their tattoos. It would be a kind gesture to offer a little bit more money on the art work as well - most times they will not require more.
Good luck with that...let us all know how it turns out!! Post a "Do you like my tattoo?" question!!!

Hey JB....Got to hand it to ya brother .....at least you're looking for something unique to you. Lots of people out there would just get whatever was the "HOT" tattoo of the day. I'm going to answer this question the same way I answered it yesterday and the day before and the day before.....etc. If you want a tattoo that has meaning then you have to look within yourself (which you already seem to be doing)..... Think about the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to you and base a tattoo around that event....nothing traumatic? Then someone really close to you has passed on that you could memorialize? Maybe a pet that was special to you?........Are you struggling with any secret addictions or hidden demons in your life? ...If so get them out there on your skin..hobbies, favorite sports, your heritage, a quote the means something to you.....Maybe a tattoo that has something to do with your profession...... Next you need to look at tattoos ....lots of tattoos. May I suggest www.tattooartists.org. Their site lists tattoos by location on the body. Once you get an inspiration rough out an idea in your head of what you want and any competent artist will sit down with you and work out a final design. Use the best artist you can find, you want this tattoo to be a Van Gogh.....not an Elvis on Black Velvet. And remember if the tattoo has meaning for you then you will love it all the more....good luck with your tattoo JB

Make it your own. Search Google and DeviantArt.com (search for tattoo) for tattoos. They have some great ideas. Don't let other people inspire YOUR tattoos that are going to be on YOUR body for the rest of your life.

Choose a really good artist.
They can help you with the
decision better than anyone.
Choice of design, placement,
coloring, anything you need....
The artist is going to be the
most important part of your
tattoo and the experience
you will have getting it.

In my opinion if you do knot know exactly what you want you are not ready to have a tattoo. You should not have people on yahoo deciding what your tattoo will be. It is something that will be with you for ever. Once you figure out something that means a lot to you, you should get it tattooed on you.

I would suggest going to a few tatoo places. and looking at what they have there- they usually have books and pictures on the wall. Since most tattoo shops are original artwork. Images may differ from place to place. and make sure they have an autoclave.

Maybe something like a family crest, but I'm thinking thats not what you are looking for. Find some type of symbol that means family.

You can't go wrong with an eagle....also, you may want to keep in mind what you would be proud to show off at the company picnic 10 years from now.

if i were you i would get day of the dead sculls. you seem very family oriented and the skulls are very beautiful and uniquely mexican. you should get one for each member of your family. a total of five, or six if you wanted to get one that represents yourself too. that, to me would be the most unique and personal one. you could have each one with things inside them that is unique to the person it represents. like birth flowers in the eyes. or initials hidden in the scrollwork. BUT i would urge you to go to a talented tattoo artist. don't get just any joe blow from the first tattoo shop you go to. make it worth the skin you are putting into it. if you need suggestions for artists you can email me.
