I have been talking online and twice now on the phone with someone I was matched with on eHarmony. I have a date tomorrow with him and I want it to go very well. I am open to suggestions on where to go or what to do. Also I wonder if I should tell him I would like him to plan it? I am very nervous.

Both of you make the plan, meet at a public place, that is the time for you two to get to know each other, relax get to know one another, go to a place that doesn't close until late, that way you all don't have to decide to go to either one of your homes, if you drink, and you will not be driving, take you a good hard shot of cognac or liquor of your choice, don't worry it will only help you relax more, and talk to him, find out about his likes and dislike in life, don't have to get too personal if you don't want to, share with him the same about you, talk about trips, food, movies, whatever comes to mind, you will be fine,..................Enjoy and let us know how it turned out.........LOL

Normally whoever asks the other out plans it. For a first date with someone you dont know socially , going for coffee or lunch is good.

if you like each other , coffee can become lunch , and lunch can thn be a movie or walk in park .

If it doesnt go well, you can just say goodbye and leave.

Because you both are probably nervous give the guy a few chances . A couple of short lunches maybe.

As a guy, I don't mind planning the date. I'm sure that he won't mind either if you ask him. Just make sure that it's a public place for safety reasons. Also, if you go on any further dates, don't make him decide what to do everytime. He will at some point run out of ideas. Not to mention the fact that if you guys don't have fun on a date, he is the only one who can be wrong.

I agree with Libra, public meeting place for sure. But I would also have a couple of ideas for something you could do together. Part of the reason dinner is so popular is because it gives you a chance to get to know one another.

Other ideas for things you could do where the volume would be low enough so you could hear each other might include:

Shooting Pool
Bowling (I laugh as I write this, but hey it's reasonably quiet)
A Dinner Cruise
Coffee

That depends on who initiated the date. If you did, then you set it up. If he did, then he needs to set it up. I think you two should start with something light and easy. Possibly a coffee shop, a quiet little restaurant. Some place where you two can easily talk and not spend a whole lot in case it doesn't work out.

The first two dates with some one you never meant be for ,should be in a public place and preferably with a couple of your friends.
So you should plan it for your safety . Be very careful !

Why don't the two of you discuss this and plan it together? Check with each other where you'd like to go and what you'd like to do. This way, it'll be mutually agreeable and the burden will not be on either one's shoulders. Nothing like starting on the right foot from the get-go.

Don't overplay it in your head & make it out to be such a big that you appear to be very nervous when you meet him. I know it is a big deal, just don't let your nerves know it's a big deal. :-)
If you want to talk to him go to dinner. If you don't want to talk much go to a movie. If you want to have fun & see what kind of personality he has go play putt-putt or something like that, that you have in your area.
As for who should plan, it should be the one who asked the other one out.
Good Luck!

always reecommend dinner on a first date and maybe a walk..its a chance to really talk and get to know each other......going to a movie is not good cause you can't talk very much...a club is always good too cause you can dance, have fun and talk.
