I'm trying to find a home for my cats, because they're getting too expensive to keep. They were ferals, but I trained them. In fact, they learned to use the litter box in 24 hours! They're smart and loveable. I want to find them a happy place to live, where they'll be well taken care of, but I've looked all over the place, and all the animal shelters seem to be full--I can't find anyone to take them in. I need to move them out ASAP. Anyone have iny information for me?

They are now your cats and you are responsible for them. You could just keep them outside and make sure they are fed. Unless you declawed them, they should be fine outside.

Adult cats are hard to place and if you in any way breathe the word "feral" you will never get a shelter to take them. I know it's difficult. Try contacting an organization like Alley Cat Rescue (national website) and see if someone in your area has an established colony your cats could join.

I have had a lot of ferals and strays in my neighborhood fixed and I try and place the ones who obviously came from a home at some point, but nobody wants cats. People dump them in my neighborhood. I do what I can, even if it's only fixing them and getting them basic shots and feeding them. I hate the fact they are outside, but if they aren't reproducing and at least get regular meals, at least they aren't suffering a lot. This is why fixing strays and all animals is so important, so when you do have to find a new home for one there is a home for it to go to. Good luck to you.

Go to www.petfinder.com and search for shelters in your area. Be aware that none are REALLY no kill shelters. They all just keep the cats till they decide no one is going to adopt them (time frame varies) and then send them to a kill shelter as "unadoptable". Sorry to have to tell you that...Good luck!

Call all the vets with in 50 miles of you and ask them to advertise them in their offices and also ask them if they know anyone who would take them. You can also put up ads in grocery stores and senior centers. Good Luck.

The ASPCA and SPCA are always NO-kill shelters.
As a shelter volunteer, thank you for adopting a homeless dog. Best of luck. I hope you find the perfect addition to your family.

Woof!
