People in the field of intelligence usually got there by accident. Intelligence is an underworld institution. Usually a person is already part of a secret organization when they get called up to serve as an intelligence agent for whatever organization. Unless you speak several different languages and have a rich and powerful family, I'm sure it's difficult to decide on your own to become an agent.

They have many backgrounds. It's going to be more about a clearance and filling a needed slot that is available. The OSI wanted me to join them. I had a tech background.

That seems to be a contradiction of terms. Should "army" and "intellegence" even be in the same sentence?!
