My cat does that all the time. Usually she's just stretching out and likes to roll around. If she's in the sun she does it more. I guess she wants to get a tan on her belly. It doesn't mean anything.

It doesn't mean anything really. If he does it in the sun, as my cat does, she's/he's probably sunbathing. Cats love the warm, toasty rays that come from the sun.

it means hes enjoying himself....my cat is an indoor cat and when we take him on walks he rolls in the dirt and lays in the sun...he loves it

it's probably rubing the dirt into it's back or wearing a nice spot in the dirt to lay in. It's usually a happy thing. it may also be trying to lure you into rubbing it's belly so it can attack you ;-) in a playful manner of course...

the cat is playing also i have a cat that like to sleepon it,s back so maybe it,s trying to find a spot on it,s back to sleep on.or it,s jest happy.

My oldest does that. He likes his belly rubbed then he'll play bite me. That's a sign of a contented cat. Chances are, yours is purring when he does that.
