Are you insinuating that YOUR phone is being tapped?
First off, who are you that anyone would want to tap your phone?
I am sure that if you are as important as you think you are, then the government has already tapped into every means of communication you have.
And don't listen to Taylor F. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Because you are on house arrest does not give the government the authority to tap your phone.
And like Bill459 says, you can always threaten a high ranking government official. If they are listening to you, then you will be visited by the men in black.
Enjoy.

I know some types of taps, cause a low level static noise so if you notice a difference in the static from before you got in a situation in which you have to wonder about this then you could have one

If they have a warrant to tap your phone, you can bet they won't tell you. Even if you find a tap, how would you know who put it there? A good tap will not give any indication of its presence without high tech detection equipment.

It has a initial click when you pick up the phone...so when the phone rings next pick it up and listen for the click (just don't pick up and say hello, or you wont hear it).
