Well, embarrassing for my mum and my dad was probably embarrassed too! We COULD have been embarrassed but we found my dad's meanderings endearing!
My dad was always getting lost! Ha! There was nothing wrong with his brain, I think he must have been day dreaming. When we were out on holiday he loved to wander off, not very far from us but to look at the view and think...then he'd completely lose his way and we'd have to go looking for him.. this happened so much.
In a bar abroad, he went to find the loo, someone pointed a direction and we saw him leaving the bar!! Brother told my mum not to go after him, that he had to learn!! ha ha!
He was in the Korean war and he got lost!!! honestly, omg, I'm laughing now....He couldn't find the rest of his comrades and got lost ...AMONGST THE ENEMY!!! He found a ditch to hide in...was there for 3 days living of a bit of vegetation and rain water, then he managed to get to the river and was shot at by his own men!! They did realise before they actually killed him! I only found this out as an adult when we found newspaper clippings about it! (His mother had already received the missing in action telegram!)
Finally, and this summed him up, when my lovely dear dad died, the funeral cars drove us all (around 60 of us), through the cemetery to his burial plot that we had picked out for him....however, they didn't stop where we thought he was to be buried but went to the top of the graveyard and pulled up by a freshly dug grave. everyone got out of the cars....and evenntually, we said we had picked a different plot. The council workers went off to investigate and true enough my dad was nearly buried with ANOTHER WOMAN who had died and was waiting for HER husband to join her...we all felt that the end of his life typified how he'd been through his life...getting lost!

I was in hospital recently with excruciating pains, I was put on AAU with a load of oldies and my Mum and Stepdad walked in and my Stepdad Shouted out "so the pills for the nymphomania haven't been working then!!" Good job I've got a great sense of humour as he then proceeded to read all my medical notes!!!

my brother told me this story when i came to visit my parents one time a few years ago-
dad had an illegal gas meter at his old place. The guy came to read the gas meter and dad opened the front door midday in his pyjamas because he sits in his pyjamas all day if he doesn't have anything to do and as soon as he saw him he slammed the door in his face, ran upstairs, took his top off and let a towel hang off his shoulders. Then he opened up his bedroom door and told the fellow that he was sorry but he was in the bathroom. The reader dude accepted his answer and said he understood and would come back later by which time he got my brother to help him change the meter back up and the whole time my brother cracked himself up... even when he was telling me the most ridiculous story i've ever heard and dad didn't deny one word of it. I couldn't for the life of me believe that the gas reader guy beleived him but he thought nothing of it! Imagine the chances. My dad's an ex gas theif!

Okay so my parents arent the best people. You should know that first off. So my mom and my dad were having a HUGE fight and screaming at eachother, the whole nine yards. Over something completely stupid. And there my mom was, pissing her face off, getting so drunk. So she had had about a whole effin bottle of scotch and she was crying and screaming at my dad. There was a knock at the door and i opened it. It was my tutor. And she had to see this whole scene. Sooo embarassing.
