Dogs are members of packs. They communicate that way. And they listen to the Alpha Dog in their pack.
You want them to bark if there is something odd going on in your area. It is a good idea to look and see. I got used to my dogs bark and could tell when something was out there because he barked different if it were a stray animal or a human tresspasser.
Then when you see they are just being silly and barking at dumb stuff. You can control that.
If you become the Alpha Dog to them they will obey. This does not mean that you can be hateful to them. Just stern and reasonable. You must: #1 get their attention #2 let them know what you want. In general dogs want to please their master.
Do you ever buy the little metal cans of mints at the store? You know they are flat and the lid fits tight and they are about the size or slightly larger than your palm?
Fill them with either about 4 or 5 pennies or a few marbles. (DO NOT OVER FILL) the, stuff inside has to make a loud noise when the can lands on the ground. Then put the can in a old nylon sock.... (just find an old panty hose and cut the foot off and tie a knot in it after you insert the can) then when the dog barks you must sternly speak (you must be where they can see and hear you even if it is a window of your house) As the can smacks the ground next to the noisy dog in a commanding voice sternly say... "QUIET" or any one sylable word that you do not use for anything else... I would not use "NO" because you use that for other things.
Be sure to prepare several of these cans for each night. And please do not use big cans or heavy items. ALSO do not hit the dog with this. It is to land nearby to cause noise only. It says to the dog "I am your master and I can reach you all the way over there" The first couple of times you may want to be in the yard (or if you keep them inside - in the room with them) with a chair and every time one makes a noise, throw the can and speak sternly. (that will put you right there to retrieve the can) after a few days you should be able to just say "Quiet" and the dog will hush... THEN after that your dog will start to see what you think is bad to bark at and what is OK to bark at.
And please give you pet a lot of quality attention. Taking the time to pet them for 30 minutes or taking them for a long healthy walk while you talk to them and make eye contact... can go a long way toward gaining their respect. And Spay or Neuter your pets (if you can not control them now , what would you do if there where 8 of them yapping?)

A shake can is the way to go for most annoying behavoirs. I've used a soda can with loose change thats taped at the top for my Boston Terrier for a while now. It gets their attention and distracts them from the behavior. I've gotten to the point where all I have to do is reach for the can(not even touch it) or say heres the can and she stops and lays down.A trainer started me on this by waiting for her to start a bad behavior, in this case it was jumping up on a kitchen chair. He quietly walked up behind her when she wasn't looking and threw the can hard on the floor behind her.She got really scared, he said nothing just let her react. When she jumped on the chair again he shook the can a little and believe me SHE GOT THE MESSAGE. Good luck.

go to petco or petsmart, or go to petsafe.com. they sell barking collars that deliver a small electrical shock when they bark. If you buy one, use on the worst first, then swap to the other. i haddogs that kept digging out and I bought one the their electric fences and it did the trick the first day. so i can't image it wouldn't help that fast for barking. make sure to praise and reinforce good behavior. the electrical behavior stuff works surprisingly fast.
i know it sounds mean but i tried it first before i committed and it is more of a staticy feeling like a tens unit for the back or touching something that gives you a zing. it is not painful, it is attention getting!

have you tried a water bottle those barking collars are so mean. if people actually spent time with their dogs they wouldnt need barking collars...sorry, i have 2 dogs that used to bark non stop and i got a sprayer bottle filled it with water or the hose if they are outside. is it possible to move their kennels where they cant see each other or smell each other when they are outside? if so then do it and see if there is any change in behavior. i hope this helps

stick them kennels and slap their kennel with a newspaper when they start to bark. Reward them when they don't.
