Our 2 1/2 yr old boy screams when he has to get his hair cut. But trimming it at home , isnt the cure. How can we get him to sit still without using the computer like we do at home? I have even tried to sit him on my lap while he's getting it cut. Help !!!!!!!!!

I have used TV and bribery to do my kids hair--put them in the high chair (even if you have to get it out of storage) in front of the boob tube, give them a bag of something really awesome like chocolate chips or something, and then GO FAST WITH THOSE SCISSORS. If not, you need to take him somewhere and be prepared to not only hold him on your lap but put his head in a vice grip. Make sure the barber/stylist knows they have to work FAST and to ignore the screaming.

I'm guessing his head sweats alot, maybe when wearing his hat but probably most likely when hes sleeping. It could be what i have right now and the Dr. said it was a fungal infection. Does it itch? Mine just a little and thats how it spreads (on his head) It dosn't spread to other people. It could be accompanied by dandruff but not always and can also get into his eyebrows. Does it smell worse when the hair is newly washed or wet from rain? The remedy is Salicylic Acid - Betamethasone (Ram) also known as Ratio Topisalic Lot Its a lotion and it makes the head stink even more when you apply it. It has to be applied to the scalp every night for 3 weeks. JFYI my 30 ml bottle cost $20. and i don't think its going to last for 3 weeks. Ask the pharmacist if this is just $2.rubbing alcohol....thats sure what it smells like.

I actually work at a childrens salon Cool Cuts for Kids and unfortunetly all the bribery in the world will not work somrtimes. The best advice is to find someone who is very quick and not afraid of screamers. Try to go to the same person every time so your child gets familiar with them, and stay away from certain words like cut, or take off. Children often associate this with pain. Try to use trim or little tickle machine for the clippers and trimmers. As a partent just stay calm because if they see that you are stressed out, it makes them even more anxious. Hope this advice helps.

A 2 year old foster child I had WOULD NOT sit still to get his hair cut so they gave him a spray bottle filled with water, moved all their "stuff" out of the way & told him to spray the mirror. This was a friend of mine so I'm not sure just anyone would do this BUT it worked like a charm EVERY time & he actually loved to go get his hair cut because he got to squirt the water. It's worth a try if you can get someone to agree to it. Good luck!

If your local barber is nice enough, you can maybe get them to make a "service call". If not, make sure when you go to the barber shop to tell him not to worry about anything. Also, have a reward such as a lollipop or something else he's interested in ready to give to him after his hair cut. I have fell asleep in the "chair" before, so you could try waiting until he falls asleep to get his hair cut too.

I'm glad you are letting your son at such a young age use a computer, but try to avoid the haircut at the pc.

I used to take my kids to places where they can sit in a "car" and have Disney videos playing. Of course the lolli-pop when it's all over.

Maybe a bribe afterwards would work. Maybe tell him after the haircut he can go get an ice cream if he is good. Once I bought my son a set of Star Wars figures and showed it to him. I told him I have this for you and will give it to you if you do good in the dentist.

much like childrens photographers, childrens barbers specialize in keeping the kids controlled andthey are able to distract them so they can get the haircut done. you could consider a place like "snip it's" for haircuts its a fun childrens salon
