Serious opinions, please. Was Pearse's "blood sacrifice" justifiable (or justified)? Would waiting, as MacNeill urged have been better or worse? Speculations as to results welcome.

Seizing the main Post Office was the worst possible tactic. The Crown forces had the rebels exactly where they wanted them. If they had instead dispersed into the countryside the Uprising could have gone on for months.

The increase in Nationalist sentiment after 1916 had nothing to do with the rising itself which was seen as romantically vainglorious. But with the British over reaction, executing the ring leaders etc.
