I know it is an attention thing or that he is playing a game but it is driving me crazy. He is grabbing everything...so it isnot like i can just put the items away. He does the same thing with my stuff as he does with his toys...drags them outside.

I have bought him new bones.

What do I do when I take his toys?

Teach him the 'off' command.

When he has your stuff say 'OFF.' If he drops your thing give him a treat immediatly. If he doesn't drop your item at first, show him a cookie and give it to him immediatly upon his release of the object.

Then take your object, say 'MINE' (another helpful command) and give him one of his toys.

You will have to do this a few times before it sinks in.

Once he knows the 'off' command, you can use it for lots of things like when he gets into garbage in the park...

Well, if he wants your attention you could play with him more often and reward him when he doesn't take your stuff.
You can leave his toys on the ground so he can play with them, but try putting YOUR things somewhere higher or where he can't get to them. My dogs used to do this also; I have 4!

Good Luck!

:) my dog has been taking loads of my stuff too. Just today he took my amber bracelet off of my table, and it was from Italy. Last week he also took my glasses and chewed them up- and we can not find the lenses.

I personally think that it is an atention thing. As for now, i am paying so much atention to him nower days.

needs more atttention. let him know whos boss by yelling at him. i know its hard to yell at your favorite pet but tell them whos in charge. get him some new play toys and fresh bpone keep him occupied. try and spend more time with him. maybe get him a play mate.

Just about everything I thought I knew about training dogs was wrong. Check out "Dog Whisperer" on cable...he's great!

Keep your stuff out of his reach. Leave everything in your bedroom and shut the door where he can't get in.
