The antichrist is not one person, but is anyone who denies Christ Jesus. 1 John 2:18 confirms this:--" Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour." These antichrists are in every country. Atheists, deists or agnostics, are antichrists. Any political or religious organization who prefers human rulership rather than God's heavenly government and it's rulership is an antichrist. Since the destiny of all who comprise the antichrist is destruction at Armageddon, it follows that all who would escape that end must separate themselves from any antichrist.

Lots of fiction answers here!

The word is used 5 times in the New Testament, only in 1 and 2 John. This may or may not represent a single person. Scripture is not clear about it.

Something scripture IS clear about is the coming judgment.

2Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar. Fire will destroy everything in them. God will judge the earth and everything in it.
11 So everything will be destroyed. And what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives. 12 Live like that as you look forward to the day of God. It will make the day come more quickly. On that day fire will destroy the heavens. Its heat will melt everything in them. 13 But we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth. Godliness will make its home there. All of this is in keeping with God’s promise.

- This is probably the clearest language of any of the passages about the second coming. It has many points in which it differs from the pop theology view which is so common today. Primarily, everything will be destroyed INSTANTLY. Call it a reverse big bang - poof, EVERYTHING IS GONE. There will be NO "RAPTURE" as it is commonly taught. EVERYONE will be judged.

Remember, during his ministry, Jesus taught about the kingdom "one will be taken and another left." (Luke 17:34) BUT he also taught “What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see God’s kingdom.” (Luke 9:27)
... Are there 2000 year old people around or is the kingdom ALREADY HERE? Are we NOW IN the 1000 years reign FIGURATIVELY described in Revelation? The kingdom is here and Jesus is its king. Everyone WILL confess that, either now or at the judgment.

I think that the way to reconcile these ideas is to realize the nature of the reign. Just like the Jews of Jesus lifetime, many misunderstand the nature of his kingdom today, thinking again that it will be earthbound.

The anti christ has supernatural powers...he will lead the world into peace for 3 1/2 years. Then he will make war for another 31/2 years. During the 7 yrs the antichrist will be killed by a head injury and the Devil will bring him back to life. After 7 yrs Jesus comes to Earth and whips the Devil...the side that's going to win are the good guys...Jesus and God.

antichrist was originally put forward basically as "unholy one" then the book of revelation reffered to the one we all think of when we hear that term. basically, it is someone who unites those forsaken by god.... the concept has since been greatly expanded through the last 2000yrs of dogma and theology, such that it is commony believed he will come talking peace, but end up casuing the war to end all wars (and not the good way.)

According to modern evangelical/pentacostal theology, the antiChrist is a man of peace that will come forward in Israel. That's why a lot of conservative Christians are pro-war.

Pro-War=For Jesus
Pro-Peace=For the anti-Christ.

Very confusing, considering everyone sees Jesus as the Prince of Peace.
