I'm thinking of doing that to make a little extra money. I know how to do it well, so I figure, why not make some money off of it.

What would you pay?

Honestly, very few people know how to convert tapes to CD's. The technology is simple, as you should know. I am presently making extra money converting all tapes (audio cassette, betamax, VHS, etc.) to CD (VCD, SVCD and DVD formats) and charge between 5 to 50 USD per job depending on the nature of the original tape, editing, digital enhancements, etc.
The income is good but cannot be depended on as the only source of income.

Someone must have a very precious personal recording to do it, because you must be charging at least $10/hour + CD cost, so one might as well buy the CD.

In other words, for regular tapes, your cost must be lower than buying the new CD; But people will be willing to pay far more if there is no other way to play that content.

I wouldn't.

I would never pay to have a cassette converted to a CD. Cassettes have poor sound quality. You cannot improve its quality by putting it on a CD. I would rather spend the money buying used CDs.

I don't think you'll make much money at it. The only way to let people know - advertising - will take up your profits.
