What is like there? Are the people nice? Cultural? Street Savvy? Are the schools harder? Are houses there expensive? ANYTHING you know about San Fransisco will help

WAY expensive. Nice place, I've only found nice people there, but main things to consider:

1) Traffic is awful. Horrid actually. I'd rather stick hot coals in my eyes than drive around San Francisco.
2) You'd better be loaded if you want to live there, or have a nice job waiting for you... or plan on working 2-3 jobs.
3) It's built on a fault line, so who know when the whole city is going to topple due to a giant earthquake.

I'd suggest somewhere near Sacramento... cheaper comparatively, not on a fault line, really close to San Fran so you can visit when you want.

While it's true that SJ is cheaper, I lived there and hated it (to each his own) On the other hand, SF is SO very expensive. Why not check out some of the beautiful towns in between like Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, Santa Clara, Menlo Park, etc. They are less expensive than SF and much nicer than SJ. Good Luck!

It costs ALOT of money to survive in S.F. The atmosphere is awesome though. There are plenty of places to shop and eat. There's also alot of entertainment and I doubt you'll ever get bored living there. The downside would have to be traffic, crazy streets (the signs are confusing) and the high cost of living. I live about 2 hours away and go to S.F. once every couple of months. I love S.F., but could not see myself living there. It's very fast paced and if that's the lifestyle you want, go for it.

Well according to my Mom who lived in California, it has a huge gay and lesbian community, and they're known for their gay bars? However I'm sure that that's only one small aspect of what San Francisco is about.

It's very very expensive. It is a great city though, my favorite one in California. Have fun.
