To the best of my knowledge there is no specific rule (this may vary by locality of course) however, you can have it written in to your child's IEP ("Individualized Education Plan") that your child have an aide on the bus. If your school system can not or will not comply, look into obtaining an advocate to work with you in getting your local school system to protect and educate your child.
That said, in my locality, busing is not considered a "right", so you may be facing an uphill battle.
I would suggest making a formal complaint with whomever is responsible for busing in your area.

I am also a bus driver. ADHD students do not need an aide on our buses but there are many levels of ADHD behavior. All our buses now have cameras to assist drivers in maintaining order on the bus. If a problem comes up, the tape is shown to proper authority figures to determine the best solution. We also use a point system. If a student acts up or misbehaves, points are given and a "ticket" sent home. 15 points, off for 3 days, 30 points, 5 days, 45 points, 10 days, 60 points, remainder of school year. Points are base on severity of infraction, from 5 to 15 at a time. If the situation is serious enough, we have an escalator clause in the policy. Points are cumulative for the current school year only, each fall is a clean slate. Not many problems after Mom gets a ticket or two in the mail (NEVER sent home with student!!!)

Not in Arizona, I drove bus here (BLUE BIRD TRANSIT STYLE WITH 95 STUDENT CAPACITY, the school district had 20 of these buses and 2 small VAN type) (only 7 buses had a monitor to help the driver and these routes were 50 - 75 miles long!)for 5 years and I had one student removed from my bus by going before the School Board due to problems caused by this student, up to fights, kicking, scratching other students when the student refused to take their medications.
They put this student on a handicap bus for a while and then the students parents were required to transport the student to and from school.

Well there isnt a rule that a monitor be avaiable on all buses. But if this is a Special ed. school bus then the school or the company that owns the bus (whethers is Laidlaw or whatever) needs to be notified of the situation that is occuring or else nothing will change.

Just FYI BUS is how you spell this word, BUSSES means kisses, BUSES is the plural of the word for a yellow mode of transportation.

ADHD my behind!
instead of medicating these unruly kids a good kick in the behind would work much better.
why do you feel this way, is it your child? perhaps you should talk to the parent instead of wanting monitors on the bus.
all of these things are costly to the tax payer, monitors on the bus, special this special that all adds up.
parents need to take some responsibility for their children instead of giving medical names to unruly children that refuse to behave!
there were no ADHD children when i went to school, all of this is new. oops new excuses for everything kids do these days.
i read yesterday ADHD is diagnosed at a rate of 1 in 150 kids. i don't believe it for a minute.
if little johnny is gettin yelled at on the bus sperhaps the little fart should sit down and shut the hell up!!! and instead of paying a monitor maybe mommie should drive her little unruley brat to school and save us the money of having to "monitoring" her kid!!!
