I used to be a union member in Louisiana but the union didn't pan out so everybody resigned from it. I now work for the North Carolina DOC and a union has never been mentioned.

Normally in those states that are friendly to unions will have unions, those states with right to work laws discourage unions.

For civil service it's important to be protected by a union, other wise expect you job will be a the whim of the next guy coming through the door.

Correctional Officers in Maryland have a union.
