If your pupils were dilated... they wouldn't get smaller when you shined a light into the eye.......

Your pupils are supposed to get smaller when you shine a light into them. That's perfectly normal. Your pupils are actually "holes", not black objects. They control the amount of light that enters your eyes. If you shine a bright light into them, they are going to constrict (get smaller) in response to the light. It's their way of protecting themselves. You should worry if they STOP doing that.

When your eyes are dailated the pupil appear large and does not shrink with light. It is normal for pupils to get smaller when you show light into them. I don't think anxiety can cause your pupils to be dialated.

having dilated pupils is not a bad thing. as long as they are the same size as each other and both pupils constrict equally when bright light is shined at you, then you are fine.

Your pupils naturally dilate in darkness. When you enter a light area or put a flashlight up to them, they constrict. These are normal body reflexes.
Your anxiety is not related to this, but it is treatable. See your doctor.

What you are seeing is a normal pupillary response to light. The pupil will automatically become small when exposed to bright light..it is call "accommodation". It's normal and should happen when a bright light is shone in your eyes.
Your anxiety stems from something else...

When you shine a light on them, they are supposed to get smaller. They are dialated if they are a lot larger than normal, or if when you shine a light on them they barely shrink. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
