I work at a grocery store, and so the stamps we have are what the local post office gives us. And where i work at the store, we sell individual stamps..and i have books of stamps(as well as all the cashiers).

anyways, how can i deal better with those who no longer want the stamps after they see them? they get all nasty with me. I just smile and say "ok". Then i have to void off the entire thing....which i have the highest void rate in the store...because of people like these...

Should i show them the stamps before they actually want them? or what?

Yeah I'd say the stamps we have today are ............ are you still interested in purchasing them.

Yes, you should just show them the stamps before ringing them in. If they say they don't want them tell them that is all that you have and if they want a specific stamp they should go to the post office, because they only send out one kind to the stores to sell. If I wanted a certain one for like Christmas, or other holidays or for sending out invitations I would head to the post office first.

I am sure you are referring to the stamps having our flag on them (am I right?) I would tell the customer, "they are flag stamps, is that OK?", before ringing them.

They can go to the Post Office for a better selection, but the stamps in the machine there have flags too. They get to wait in line to get a picture of beans or flowers on the stamps. Who really cares, anyway? I'm sure your electric company will say "oh, how tacky!! they used a Christmas stamp in February"

Personally, I think if someone has a problem with our flag, they should get out of our country, even if they were born here. Call me Patriotic, that would be a good call!!!

You have a lot of selection, wow!! I am surprised. People are so damn stupid!!!

I guess that I am one of those "stamp" people. I like the unique stamps. If I am buying them at a store I do not expect them to have a variety so I take what they have. A pretty stamp gets the mail there just as fast as a common stamp!

I would just show them the stamps before you ring them up. I have worked as a cashier & know exactly how picky people are. I chalk it up to them not having control over anything else, so they drive others crazy. I think its some kind of sport.

wow, i cant believe anyone would make a big deal out of stamps. maybe when they ask for them just say "we have the ones with the flag on them, is that okay?" (or whatever the picture is on the stamp) ask before you key them into the register, that way if they're ridiculous enough to reject the stamps based on the picture you dont have anything to void.

Tell them that you are not the Post Office and that this is all you have. Does it really matter what your stamps look like? Yeah, I need a pretty stamp to mail in my Visa bill!

I know what you mean, maybe you should show them the stamps prior to sell them. You know just take them out and ask them how many of those not so cool stamps they want.

Yes, I think you should show them the stamps first, and ask if these are okay. That will save you all those voids!

I would say, "Do you want the standard Statue of Liberty stamps?" before you ring them up. Dealing with the public is a pain.

I would show them the stamps first, or describe them.
