This video show the inhumane treatment these dogs get and how they can show love even after they are so treated and how while even being put to sleep they show how they can respond to kindness. Please note that there are people in the pits with these dogs they do not attack. They were never bred for human aggersion.

It is in the genetics of all dogs to kill. There is less than 6% difference in our pet dogs and their wolf cousins. There is always the chance that will come out no matter how will trained. Add to this fact the abuse and breedding for aggresion some breds get you have the formula for someone to get killed. That is why I fight for laws that go aginst the human and not the dog. Now it is pit bull and rotts. What bred will they chose when those two are gone. Stop the humans from doing bad things to the dogs and most of the problems will be gone. In the frist half of the 20th centery pit bulls were the most popular dog, so why did it take till the 80's for people to notice they were dangerous.

Here are some Pit Bulls you will never read about in newspapers: http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/pospress.html
I was scarred for life by a retired police dog at the age of four. Police trained dogs get put down from time to time. A few years back one was in the paper for attacking another officer rather than the perp it was sent after. I worked at a shelter where we got to put down 3 black labs who attacked and killed an elderly neighbor and were found back home playing with the kids. We have a backyard breeder of Am Staffs answering, wonderful. Backyard beeders do little more than make thing worse for any breed of dog, rather than improve them. Leave the breeding to those who know what they are doing. However, if genetics are such fool proof indicator of behavior ask Ed Frawley (breeder of amazing GSDs) why he won't offer a temperament guarantee on his dogs. It is because genectics will only take you so far and environment takes you the rest of the way.
Dogs are animals and until they learn to speak our language we will continue to hear about these "sudden" dog attacks. However, most of these attacks are hardly spontaneous to someone well versed in dog behavior. Most dog owners are not even aware the a wagging tail is not always a good sign and can be the first indication of a fight or attack. A sudden attack means somone isn't paying attention. My mom and I walk our dogs together alot, people shun my Pit and run right up to the Maltese, always ignoring my mother's protest. You should see the look on their faces when the sweet looking small dog beings to snarl and snap like she has rabies. My pit is the friendly one of the two. Very few people have a clue about how to approach or act around a dog.

People who hate pit bulls are ignorant, and just listen to all the stories they hear from the news and from their friends. And most of these stories are exagerated, or completely UNTRUE! I love this video. I found one a while ago that is similar. It is my favorite one. I love pit bulls, i think people who hate pit bulls must have never actually met a pit bull who is owned by a responsible owner. They make WONDERFUL pets. If pit bulls were really the vicious killing machines people think they are, then we wouldn't even be here trying to stand up for our favorite breed.

Anyone who would own a pit bull should know....They CAN be animal aggressive. People say all the time that their sweet loving pit bull attacked another dog, and it was totally unexpected. NO, it wasn't. Pit bulls have been bred to be dog aggressive. So a RESPONSIBLE pit bull owner would know this, and not leave their dog unsupervised around any other dog for any reason. Though they do have dog aggressive tendancies, they in NO way have human aggressive tendancies. In fact, when they were bred for fighting, it was NOT acceptable for a pit bull to bite a human, ever. So it was purposly bred out of them to be aggressive to humans.....

I also wanted to add that some pit bulls have been responsible for attacking a human. This is usually because the owner either purposely trained their dog to be aggressive, or failed to acknowledge that it IS aggressive, and didn't do anything about it. Though pit bulls have attacked, so has every other dog breed out there. I was attacked by a golden retriever who nearly took the right side of my face off, i Still have scars. But i understand that this was ONE dog out of a WHOLE breed. I would not punish all golden retrievers because one golden attacked me. I understand that his owner was irrisponsible. Though she did not train him to be aggressive, she neglected the fact that he IS aggressive, and after he attacked me, she said 'oh, he has done that before.' And she still hasn't tried to correct the problem.

I did not look at the video because I figured it was on fighting and I cannot tolerate that.

Please do not think the Pit Bull is only aggressive toward other dogs. Dogs are smart but if they are aggressive, they don't care who they take that aggression out on, animal or human.

I have told my Pit Bull story on here many times. I don't think anyone ever reads it or the news stories on T.V. and in the papers.
They are a proven dangerous breed. It is not their fault. BUT, at the same time, innocent children/adults should not have to pay the penalty. Humans should not be mauled or killed because you don't feel the Pit Bull breed should be banned.

I would just like to say THANK YOU for posting this. The facts are pitbulls are not the evil dogs everyone seems to think. They happen to make one of the best pets. AND that video says it all I've forwarded that link to everyone I know and asked them to forward it. Spread the word.

Ignorance and stupidity by the owners are what causes any dog to become mean and aggressive! You must punish the deed not the breed!

Thank you for this post! However, the Moron League Members are never going to agree with you!

Although I personally find them very pretty, these dogs are dangerous and unpredictable. Bottom line. I raised Staffordshire Terriers for years, until we had an incident that was completely unexpected and totally out of character for what I considered our dogs "loving" character to be. I was one of those ppl that use to believe and argue that "it was the owner and not the breed". What we experienced that day changed my mind forever.
Just as dairy animals are bred for "dairy qualities", and gaited horses are bred for their specific qualities, etc...the Staffordshire Terrier was bred for it's specific qualities. It's in the BREED and unless it is completely bred out and you end up with an entirley different breed....those qualities are there.

It's called GENETICS. It's also called "high prey drive" that is bred into the animal. It's the BREED.
I hope you never experience what so many ppl like me have with their "Pitbulls". Great, responsible, loving owners have pits that have turned on them, other animals, etc... without any warning or provocation.

Thank you for posting this. Ignorant people will, unfortunately never change their way of thinking. They belive they are right and will never open their minds to the truth. Fortunately, people like you press on, presenting facts. If others choose to ignor it, they are only making themselves look ignorant and stupid.

they may not be bread to attack humans but why would you want a dog that might attack your kids.pits are #1 for the most attacks against humans.why take that chance with your family or friends.dogs don't have the same right to life as humans no matter what you think.God said we are over the fowl of the sky and the beast of the field.why do you think insurance companies don't allow home owners to own pits.my friends has a pit he raised as a lap dog and was never trained to fight or attack but anybody that goes in his house the dog tries to bite them even kids.i would not own a dog that would attack a kid.police dog are trained to attack and they won;t even attack a child.this should not be tolerated.

You are wrong. Pit Bulls were bred to be aggressive and mean. Its in their DNA. They are evil dogs and should be illegal. I'm not calling for putting down al pits, just for the forced neutering and to make the breeding of this dog illegal.
